I assumed that it was not a parody of lyrics from a pre-2008 indie rock or pop punk band as I had no idea what song it was.
As I mentioned, my daughter got bored so we left halfway through. Was Jeremy Allen White repeating that he’s actually a good guy 47 times a misdirection or was he actually a good guy and his dialogue had no subtext?
“Test audiences keep saying they’re disappointed that there was no twist to the character. They thought there would be a twist and they were disappointed. How do we get them to not think the character will have a twist?” Jon Fav not giving a shit, tapping CTRL + C and CTRL + V on Jeremy Allen White’s voice-over audio file “Fixed.”
Thinking about it more, I think it would have been more impactful if the second half was Mando leading a fight against another Imperial Warlord who attacked him and the New Republic base after kidnapping/killing the lieutenants in the first half. Still can have the Grogu stuff if Mando is hurt and Grogu protects and heals him and it’s more of a bigger ending without needing additional context.
What if the twist was secretly Jabba was a good guy and just misunderstood. So Rotta was just like his dad
Something still irks me about the plot to this. So the twins wanted Rotta dead, and Coin was going to kill Rotta in the ring... so why did the twins go to the trouble of hiring Mando to free Rotta? Why not just let Coin kill Rotta? Or was the point to get info about the New Republic to trade to Coin?
Perhaps the twins didn’t know that was Coin’s plan? Maybe all they knew was that Rotta could not be touch as long as he was Coin’s champion.
Yeah, that was my take too. I don't think anyone knew that Coin was going to throw him into a Dejarik match for his last one except someone in his inner circle that could make the bet against him for the big payout
But that makes even less sense. If he kept his word and freed Rotta, why did the twins need Mando to free him first? Or was it that they knew where he was and if he was freed, he could then be anywhere and take longer to find?
Or, if they didn't know either, that he'd be killed or freed, why even bother breaking him out to kill him? Seems like they were ruling things already. It feels like a nonsense concession to create a plot.
They didn't know he'd be killed or freed and they also didn't know he wasn't like his father so they didn't know if he'd try and come back and take power to try and be like his father, which he's not like.
Sounds like for people who were presumably working with each other (the twins and Coin), they were extremely bad at communicating.
Almost every scene had something I really liked and really hated at the same time. And why did they start getting regular-ass people to voice aliens and creatures in perfect English (Rotta and the fisherman, especially ... my god). Can we toss an accent or a voice filter on these guys?
