I listened to the three hour Blank Check episode on this, and I feel like I’m mostly aligned with Griffin & David on what did and didn’t work about this. But, also in some ways close to Gethard in how I rolled my eyes and still managed to have fun with a lot of this. Also watched the RedLetterMedia video, and maybe my response is in some ways closer to Rich Evans shrugging and saying, whatever it’s bland but fine. I do wonder if being someone who doesn’t care enough to watch a Star War show in some ways made me like this more, lol. Saw the first two episodes around when they dropped and was like, this is neat, but I can’t watch eight hours of this in a living room. Don’t care. So seeing them go through the motions on the big screen did more for me. The more I think about it, buff baby Jabba being so dogshit a character truly is the one roadblock to me defending this more than it deserves.
Some posters think “having tastes and standards” is the same thing as being a “snob.” God forbid you be able to see flaws in a thing you like, or enjoy a thing without being upset that someone else hated it. (I, for example, love it when @JoshIsMediocre hates some sick mess I’ve stumbled into sincerely enjoying.)
I care very much. Rebels is my 2nd favorite Star Wars thing behind Andor. You're genuinely very wrong. Rebels has a massive fan base.
Oh tons. They take pride in hating on things and steamroll and make fun of dissenting opinions with statements like "oh you poor thing" and "let's examine why you want to do this thing."
I don't even have a dissenting opinion! If anything only because I thought the movie was just okay and pretty forgettable and not trash maybe that could be considered dissenting? All I've done is pointed out that normies seem to be enjoying it and I got "oh you poor thing"ed by some guy.
My “zeb is a top 5 Star Wars character” shirt is getting a lot of questions that should be answered by the shirt itself
penlab can be a huge dope but i think youre also having a tough time just accepting that other people arent liking what you like, which is ok! You were doing some similar stuff in the PHM thread, its cool that you like it and had fun but other people didnt and thats not a personal slight towards you.
I’m only doing this because I’ve seen you do it like 3 times but you’re not even doing the bit correctly
I realize I am being annoying to Flayed (who probably has blocked me lmaooooo) but that’s only because I find a 40 year old person complaining online that people didn’t adequately like the new Star Wars movie very very funny
I was revisiting Grant Morrison’s New X-Men the other day. And, I really think their assessment of the state of that series when they took over is similar to where Star Wars is currently finding itself, especially as Filoni is being handed the keys. (I may have referenced this before in a Star War thread, idk.)
Just remembered Flayed was the one in the project Hail Mary thread saying anyone pointing out flaws is making them up lol
