I recently watched a film 5 times, but it was over a period of 3 months. I may watch it a 6th time next week because the director will be making an appearance. If a film is good, I don’t mind paying to see it again. Once it’s out of theaters, that experience is gone.
If Sony paid attention to me, I could save their Sony Universe of Marvel Characters. I have thoughts on the movies they should make. But, alas.
I saw a trailer for this I hadn't seen before attached to MKII and it actually made it look kind of fun. I'm wondering if it's necessary to have watched the show to enjoy the film or if they made it more or less standalone. I guess what I'm still not getting though from the trailer is what the throughline is for this film beyond "Mando and Grogu have adventures". There was a line about Mando not always being there to protect Grogu and there was a line about the old taking care of the young and the young taking care of the old, and I'm wondering if there's actually a message happening here or if it's just throwaway lines to frame the space action.
From a video I saw with Jon Favreau he said they tried to write the movie so that people that haven't seen the show would still be able to follow along easily, but put in enough stuff that people who have watched everything will get a lot of fun things included. I'm excited to see this, any Star Wars on the big screen is a fun time and that's all I'm really looking for
currently sitting at 61% with 82 reviews. about what i expected, maybe slightly lower. have IMAX tickets for this on Saturday. expecting to have a "fun" time, nothing groundbreaking or life-changing. as a fan of the franchise, i never really go into anything SW-related with high expectations, but am always very happy when they're exceeded (Andor and the tail end of Maul being the most recent examples of that happening). i'm sure i'll like elements of this, but i'm not expecting it to be anywhere near my favorite.
A theatrical movie starring Grogu that doesn't answer any of the mysteries still surrounding has character feels like a waste honestly.
If they made this in a way to not move the show’s plot forward at all, just as a movie length version of an adventure that could be a bottle episode. But, then made it feel cool and cinematic. Then I, as someone who doesn’t watch the show and wishes I could have a good time with a Star War movie, would be thrilled. Everything I’ve seen looking bland is why I’m cynical about it.
think the main issue with Grogu is the fact that he is going to age super slowly so how do you effectively show his growth when you're tying him together with someone who has a normal lifespan? and of course we must sell more and more and more and more merch so... whatever. have tickets for tomorrow night and still not 100% sure I'm going to go lmao
The Yoda fights were goofy, but I loved them. Yoda and Palpatine throwing the senate pods at each other was awesome.
