I didn’t expect noted Iron Fist lover Penlab to be a fellow “never cared about the show and doesn’t intend to see the movie” person. Forget if I said it here or the other Star War thread (maybe both, lol). But, the footage they’ve released from this makes it seem so boring and bland. I don’t mind seeing a movie spinning out of a show I didn’t watch, but I don’t want a movie that looks and feels like a show.
What does Iron Fist, a completely unrelated show for an entirely different property, have to do with anything at all?
I feel this. I'm reminded of Star Trek: Insurrection, that felt very much like this to me; just a really long episode. To me a film implies a certain level of spectacle and importance that gives it a reason to be a film. Otherwise, why bother?
Yeah, everything I’ve seen of this feels like they just condensed their plans for Mandalorian S4 into a movie. I enjoyed the first two seasons a lot and was meh on S3, but regardless I completely agree, this feels like it should be on Disney+
that’s totally fair and honestly don’t waste your time with the show cause it’s not great but then why post in the thread for the show/movie?
Josh asked this about another film or something in another thread and it's weird to me that there's confusion about wanting to just talk about things.
It says a lot about the brand currently when the best they can do movie wise is an extended episode of a show people already have mentally checked out on years ago. That is really on Disney though, took them almost like three years to drop the last season of the show so can’t blame people on that one.
The thing is, they set up such an amazing storyline with the whole Din being raised in a cult and putting him on a path towards breaking away from that brainwashing he experienced throughout his life only to have him lean extra into being in a cult. There could have been a really great season 3 there if they had any guts at all.
I enjoyed S1 and S2 quite a bit. Can’t remember what happened in S3 other than stuff with the dark saber. Haven’t watched anything from that season since it aired But I’ll be seeing the film this weekend. Can’t skip out on a theatrical Star Wars release.
I'm the problem because despite acknowledging that season 3 was a substantial step down in quality and didn't go where I wanted it I still had fun watching it and will be seeing the movie in theaters, possibly multiple times.
You try living in Arizona in the summer, single, with a movie pass you pay for monthly lol. But to be fair I've seen every theatrical SW release since Disney took over multiple.tomes. Even RoS but only because I already had tickets to go with a friend a 2nd time and didn't want to cancel. Never watched since though. You never see movies multiple times? Or sheeshing because you assume it'll be a bad movie?
Not judging anyone, but me personally, I would never pay to see a movie in theaters more than once. I don't have that kind of time, money, inclination, or anything really, and can't imagine why anyone would see something they've seen before when they could see something new. That being said, I also understand seeing things the second time around you didn't catch the first time, so there is that. And I think I did see a film a second time once because I saw it with other people, so I understand that too.
I have a movie pass. I'm not paying for each individual movie. I'm only upping the value I get for my money by seeing it multiple times. I pay 26 a month for AMC A-List. Seeing 2 movies a month gets my money back, more than that and I'm seeing more value for my money.
Okay, but let's explore this for a moment. How often are you seeing movies? Say you only go once a week, you're telling me there's not a single other movie out there that you could get mileage out of instead of seeing Mandalorian again?
I'm a fucking nerd dude. Like I need you to understand I have Star Wars tattoos and have read about 200 Star Wars books. I am an absolute geek for this shit so no nothing is gonna get me that.
I go to 1 or 2 a week (sometimes, but rarely, 3). Nothing else is out next week so Mando twice isn't too far fetched.
i think i've only seen one movie in theaters more than once (Deadpool 2, because both my dad and my friend from college wanted to see it, but not at the same time)
