It’s not even an opinion its a preference he’s popular cuz he was a cool looking canvas to project one’s imagination for a long time, and now he’s boring cuz the official story is uninteresting
Liking a character only because he looks cool while lacking any substance for DECADES is shallow, yea. he’s been a boring lame fuck since 1980.
I'm not offended, it just seemed out of nowhere. You quoted my post to make a statement that really had nothing to do with what I said.
Part of this is because it's late and I probably should be asleep, but I guess I was thinking my post was a response to BlueEyes being confused by Boba's popularity, and when you posted it felt like you were responding as if I was directing my post at you and not BlueEyes, and that threw me off.
I'm also gonna put this out there: I'm not saying you're wrong, but I feel like the core age bracket that Star Wars markets toward is an age where it goes without saying that they'd gravitate toward what they perceive as cool. I mean, kids do that, don't they?
well debbie downer time, I thought this premiere was mid. having to spend 15 minutes just recapping the BOBF episode almost word for word sometimes was just a real bum note to start on, just reinforces how fucking wild the entire decision to do what they did with Boba was. all the stuff with the pirates and IG feels kinda weak, maybe that's just fab service feeling particularly empty after Andor. ironically enough the only moment here that actually grabbed me was Grogu seeing the Purrgill lol
Yea, the premiere was fine. A lot of set up for the season and catching up the people who didn’t watch BOBF. But I enjoyed it. I guess IG-11 will be important later on. And the pirates will likely be the main antagonists for the season? Given that Gideon is in custody (for now), it makes sense to bring in another enemy to cover this season before is eventual escape. I am guessing the purrgills will come back into play for Ahsoka and her search for Ezra/Thrawn. Which may sound weird if you haven’t seen Rebels. Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll explain it if you don’t have time to watch four seasons of Rebels. This is probably a good example of needing to have that second episode premiere at the same time or a couple days later like s1. To really get the season going, but with only 8 episodes, I understand holding back. This is the way.
But a large part of why Boba became popular is because of how kids responded to him. Fuck, he was introduced through a crappy holiday special and a mail-in toy promotion.
Again, sure. But that was decades ago. Those people aren’t kids anymore and I would hope to god they have the ability to think beyond that at this point. Although, people being unable to reevaluate their opinion or being okay with just having shallow reasoning would explain… *gestures broadly* everything in the world.
