“years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars” or whatever

i dunno, none of it really makes sense

    there is one way out

I think order 66 works for a couple of reasons.

    1. It offers an explanation for the radical decline in the Jedi order and for the exile of Yoda and Obi Wan.

    2. It also shows the puppet master control Palpatine had over the senate and Jedi council, and How he completely orchestrated the Clone Wars to embolden the dark side and pull apart the Jedi.

sure another plot device could have worked. But I think order 66 works very well to tie things together.

But I totally agree that the Jedi should have teamed up against palpatine. That part doesn’t make a ton of sense.

Going off the plot of that guy’s Episode 3 re-write, I think you could add several different events that lead to the Jedi extinction. Like they could have Maul start assassinating jedis specifically, and he takes down a lot of the Council one by one. And instead of Anakin goading Windu to put Jedi on the frontlines (dumb idea, why would he do that), there’s some reason to require the Jedi to put their lives on the line. Like his imagined finale where Palpatine blows up the whole battlefield, both the Republic and Separatist sides, he could set up instances where it looks like Jedi are attached by enemies or die in accidents. I’m just spitballing here. But the point is that the Jedi continuously risk their lives and sacrifice themselves for the sake of maintaining the Republic anyway, so it would be totally understandable for them to just get wiped out eventually. The only twist that needs to happen is that Palpatine reveals he was the one who orchestrated it all from the beginning

They also don’t need Obi Wan and Yoda to be literally the only Jedi to survive. The broader canon already accepts this idea anyway. What’s important is that the Jedi go into self-imposed exile because they are too weak to properly fight back. In the original trilogy, the Jedi are treated like a group that simply died off and nobody cares about them. Under the logic of Order 66, the Jedi supposedly turned and became explicit enemies of the Empire. In the world where that happened, like he points out, it would be a *much* bigger deal for a Jedi to reveal himself the way Obi Wan does in the cantina, because he would be putting a massive target on his back

    That answers nothing!

  6. Without the prequels you wouldn't have the clone wars series so they can exist as is

I hate all of this except make your “Maul assassinates all of the jedi order one by one” idea into a videogame

Literally all the Jedi live in the same building. They are the military leaders of the Republic living in the middle of the capital city. It would be the most obvious place for the Separatists to take down. Just 9/11 the temple and most of the Jedi are immediately dead lol

Leia knowing who Obi Wan was doesn’t explain how she knows he is on Tatooine, or why she thinks she can entrust him with anything

  11. We don't need that history in those movies though. Why does it matter in terms of the original trilogy. You only have these questions because of the prequels. They suck and make no sense move on lol

We don’t need what history in which movies?

Are we not simply...discussing the prequels and how we think they could be better? What is this weird hostility?

Having a large role for Maul in the films would have been great. I also would have liked for Qui-Gon to stay around longer but the story can’t move on if he’s alive unfortunately. His death is what kinda gets the wheel to start turning.

I think the point of the prequels is more to emphasize how america the good guys became the evil galactic empire, but the jigsaw puzzle of character relationships doesnt really do that aim any favors

And that point would be made a lot cooler if darth maul was the villain for all 3

If Obi Wan was reframed as the Luke of the prequels, then Anakin could also more explicitly be the Han

Palpatine is America and Dooku is Saddam

I would also change Count Dooku to his Sith name, Darth Tyranus. I get the count name because Lee played Dracula but Darth Tyranus sounds much more evil.

I feel like the jedi council altogether is a symbol of american exceptionalism. A gaggle of arrogant elites too pleased with themselves to perceive the phantasmic nature of the menace. “Dooku is a political idealist not a murderer,” he couldnt be bad because he was on the council etc

I think Anakin as the chosen one makes sense in this regard too; to the jedi their rightful place in restoring peace and justice to the galaxy is preordained, they lollygag about while palpatine spins a yarn around them

For all the prequels many, many failures, i really love how they smear grey across the OT’s black and white world

This thread's last 2 pages: You know what would be great for Star Wars? If we changed absolutely everything about Star Wars. It's wild to me that with all the sage wisdom people on Youtube are dropping they're not out there making the best sci-fi fantasy space film of all time. If i were as masterful at storytelling as these Youtubers seem to think they are that's certainly what I'd be doing. Why go for YouTube money when you could write the greatest space flick of all time?
