I find myself agreeing with this take on the Luke scene. I think (whether intended or not) it hints that Luke's dark side is still there and will ultimately lead to the events of TLJ.
If i could crush shit with my mind (or whatever the force is don't talk to me, dorks) it would literally be the only thing i do
I imagine flying around for hours in a cramped X Wing cockpit is no fun and he’s gotta flex his muscles.
Gorgu looking at R2 being like “do you have any games on that thing” is certainly a nice tough. still think bringing back Boba Fett is excessive and unnecessary to the dirt and ultimately cheapens bringing back Luke
Bringing back Boba Fett was hugely important to Din’s personal journey as he saw a new way to be a Mandalorian through him. Boba helps teach him the helmet isn’t the important part of the creed. Bo introduces the idea, but I think Boba hits it home by helping him at the moment he lost everything because he gave him his word. Even though Luke’s appearance had more gravitas, Boba’s inclusion had a much bigger thematic and character development impact on the show.
Boba is pretty easy to ignore going forward. Just don't watch his show. I feel like he had 20 mins of screen time through like 8 episodes. I personally think it's great they brought back Temuera Morrison (and had Katee Sackhoff play Bo Katan!). If only Ashley Eckstein could play Ahsoka. It's also clear Disney is borrowing ideas from Legends with bringing Boba back, Thrawn, and probably others I can't think of. There was some great stuff in there.
It's funny to think about how when Disney ejected everything from the canon except the movies and Clone Wars everyone thought it was because they wanted to tell their own stories uninhibited by the expanded universe canon. And now 8 years later we know that the real reason they did it was just so they could repackage it all to us instead of coming up with ideas of their own lol
If Carrie was alive, wed probably be getting a yuuzhan vong trilogy since they'd be the right age lol
At some point, Disney and fans are gonna have to accept some recasting to tell the stories some people want told.
yeah this is basically what i was thinking - like, we don't need every single story made into a series or movie. there are plenty of creative and talented women and men in the television and film world who love star wars. let them make new shit.
oh, I'm super on board with new shit. But new shit can involve old shit too. My point is if the only thing stopping a story getting made if someone wants to make it is "if only carrie was alive" well...find a new carrie.
It'll never happen. If they couldn't even do it for this Mandalorian season finale, they'll never do it. They're just going to keep shoving that horrible CGI de-aging tech down our throats forever.
