why couldn't this show just tell its own story self contained in the star wars universe instead of being like "lol Boba Fett didn't actually die"? not only that but like... isn't changing someone else's story so you can tell your own rather rude? why not just create your own characters instead of changing what happened to someone else's? (also weird I haven't seen nearly the same level of star wars fans freaking out about this as they did with TLJ... almost as if the crux of the TLJ criticism had nothing to do with its treatment of the characters...)
Yeah. Boba being alive was generally accepted before he showed up in Mandalorian. And Dave Filoni has more respect for Lucas’ creation and Star Wars history than anyone here.
we haven’t barely been given any reason to care about that yet. it is an interesting thread and also that he doesn’t even want it. idk I guess it’s cool that the show jumps all over the place - potentially more interesting less boring that way.
Can Book of Boba Fett be directed by Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, a Coen, or Martin Scorsese - alongside Filoni and Favreau and the rest of the Mando design team? Please give us some quirky and great gangster and organized crime shit - it’s totally ripe and called for. Disney spend your money. Can y’all imagine that shit?
My guess is Favreau’s initial pitch was just these first 2 seasons. It feels like the story could be done now, but there are some additional threads that were added, especially this season after its successful first, that will extend it out longer. That’s going to grow and be the focus and the eventual crossover event with the other shows will be them retaking Mandalore with Ahsoka and the Rangers of the New Republic.
The conflict with Bo-Katan over the Darksaber is clearly pointing the show in that direction. Also the “reluctant chosen one who has the leadership thrust upon them” is a thing.
no I agree I just don’t care yet because we’ve barely seen anything. I’m sure hopefully I’ll care when they do it. It sounds promising.
im a more casual fan than most here but I had the exact same reaction to Luke’s appearance. and we also noticed the wreck shit fest haha. Loved how the men quite literally fell by the wayside and opened it up to them. Some other thoughts: -I thought the dark troopers were kinda lame. A bit cheesy looking and I thought them punching the doors like rock em sock em robots was silly. Also always weirds me out when movies/shows taking place in the past have better tech than the future -I was actually really impressed with CGI Luke, looked better than CGI tarkin in rogue one -speaking or R1, Luke fighting scene mirrored Vader’s beautifully -in my head I envisioned a team of unnamed (at least to me) Jedi’s getting grogu in the previous episode before he was taken, but after reading the comments here it makes sense why it’s Luke and I feel better about it. Like the comment I quoted, I liked that the show felt more isolated. It now more clearly feels like the title means less “a story about a Mandalorian” and more “a mandalorian’s role in the overall arc.”
I’m not a CGI nut, but I entirely agree. It only looked off to me when he was speaking. It didn’t have the glow like hue that Tarkin did. How far they’ve come, at least to my eye, in four years is astounding. That doesn’t seem to be the consensus though so maybe I’m off.
did he? hlguess that makes the move just dumb instead of rude. Let dead characters stay dead. Tell your stories with new characters
it looked better when he wasn’t talking or emoting but then when he did it looked less good than your average video game. Outside of the context in which it’s used I don’t actually really care about dwelling on how it looks tbh. Although it is odd they can’t do deepfakes style.
I think you just gotta be at peace with they literally won’t allow something to be 100% new atm. It’s frustrating but I still try to enjoy as much as I can and tbf there is a lot here to enjoy. Maybe when the new trilogy comes out.
Because in this time period there are still some really big characters still around that have parts to play.
To think a show about a new found Jedi wouldn’t somehow tie into another Jedi doesn’t seem like good storytelling. Naturally it had to happen and Luke is the one that made the most sense because he is building a new Jedi temple.
