From my talk with Pat, he said he doesn't like Black & White that much. Black & White is half really good, but half horrible to me. Don't Stop Now, Right Girl, Growing Up, Inside of You, Color are all great. Every Road and Fuel to the Fire. Saving Grace, Give It To Me Listen To Your Heart are fine.
Agree, love Pioneer as well. But the cohesiveness of Lovely Little Lonely puts it over the top for me. As an actual record, from start to finish, it beats any of their other records if you ask me.
I ate some magic mushrooms with some friends while listening to Pioneer and it was a 5 star experience.
This band has been a recent love for me, but it’s been a very immediate love. They deserve JEW levels of praise when it comes to consistency and a large back catalog.
Agreed. I think their last two albums are their best, though. Especially LLL, which is easy AOTY for me. I love that record more than anything I can think of in recent memory.
LLL is my AOTY honestly I love every song on there which is a little weird as I’m not massively into their other stuff.
i suppose this is worth sharing, because i've been thinking back about this lately. back when i was like, 14 or 15 my friend and i went to shows together a lot, and she kept saying how her cousin was "dating" john o of the maine at that time, i think she showed me a picture of them together because i didn't believe her, because her cousin was our age or a year older or younger than us. he would have been 20 or so at the time. just with everything coming out lately, that's something that's been on my mind a lot.
everything is super hazy and i don't remember much but it was just like, a cute picture of them hugging or something. now as i said i never believed it in the first place and my friend made me believe that it was like, they were actually dating but i never know what it really was. i'm not using this in a way to like, damn the band and john was super young either way (20, which still doesn't excuse him if this actually did happen and she was 14) but this memory came back to me in recent weeks and i wanted to share it at least.
it's also something i never saw as weird back then too. but looking back and knowing the trends that have been going around this scene lately i actually believe it more than i did back then
There's nothing worse than people saying assault allegations are becoming a witch hunt, but this really is bordering on a witch hunt situation. I know you're not saying he's guilty, but a lot of assumptions have to be made to get to a place where John did anything wrong here.
Their fans did all sorts of completely insane stuff around that time. Claiming to be dating one of members of the band without reason (this also happened to me and I wasn't even a band member) is barely the tip of the iceberg. Making themselves as accessible to their fans as they have over the course of their career comes with a lot of weird vulnerabilities like that. If something real were to ever surface then of course it should be taken seriously, but until then I'll stand by saying that I've honestly never in my life known a group of guys from this scene less interested in taking advantage of their fans than The Maine.
I mean assuming the information that I know is 100% as it was told to me it is an issue. And who knows, maybe me saying this, someone will come out saying they know a similar story. And boom. I’m not just assuming things, I’m giving an account of s personal experience. I’m not using this to convince anyone he’s a bad person, but I feel much more comfortable saying this than holding it in.
