I love this story/comment. I've been with the band almost as long as you, but not personally, as I live in Canada, haha. But, I am as equally proud. When they started, not many bands from that particular scene really have impact now, but these guys have thrived and evolved far beyond what most would have imagined. It's something I think about often over the years through their musical journey. Plus, they truly care for everyone who has backed them from day one until today. (Hello, 8123 fest!, the fan album, not to mention they will always meet fans "free".) They are only going to go even more far than today. So much love for them. My absolute favourite part of that track. I'd be happy if that was all we got to hear, haha. I can listen to it over and over again. *heart eyes emoji*
They seem to have hit their groove with this one. American Candy is a fun record but kind of all over the place sonically. They really honed in on what made the last record so great and the confidence in their sound comes across strongly with the new album.
Amercian Candy is exactly what Amercian Candy should've been. It's exceptional and it's own entity. Seeing this thread so active and positive is great though - loving all the reactions.
For sure! It's wild to me how some of the bands they came up with had bigger immediate success, and how far they've fallen while The Maine just keeps trucking along. I haven't asked any of them ever about this, but I've always gotten the vibe that they're not a band that will ever formally hang it up. I genuinely think they'll always be around, maybe less active in some times than others, but never fully stopping. Maybe that's just wishful thinking. In any case, you're totally right, they go out of their way to make sure the ride is as best for everyone involved for as long as it goes. Yeeeesssssss. I'm not a huge lyrics person but that line sticks out to me so hard, and the way it's delivered rhythmically just sits so well in that groove!
This record is doing very well sales wise it seems, up to #2 on the Itunes chart, def a record high for them! very stoked for these dudes!!! they deserve everything they get.
Anybody get a chance to listen to the acoustic versions? holy shoooooooot they are unbelievable! "how do you feel" is just unreal acoustic.
I love American candy and this too. I respected what they tried on the other records but I think they do pop so good.
For Me, I think Lovely Little Lonely their the best album a whole, but individually I don't think any of the songs hold up against other work from American Candy or even Pioneer. Like put any of these songs against Diet Soda Society or Some Days and I don't think they compare, but American Candy has songs like My Hair and Another Night on Mars which I strongly dislike. Most of their songs fall on the extreme side for me either loving or hating them, with this album the songs are enjoyable, but I don't absolutely love(or hate) any of the them.
Looking at your profile the only reason I can understand why you hate those 2 songs is you're to young to understand them fully...
Are these acoustic versions studio recorded or just live? Sorry for being lazy and not checking myself.
Eh, I think My Hair is a very boring song, but on the complete opposite end of that I think Another Night on Mars has way too much happening in it.
Just finished "Taxi", such a great track. "Black butterflies and Déjà Vu" stole my heart. This album is becoming a grand slam for me.
