This is really, really good. Almost feels like where there academy is would have gone if they continued on. LLL is still better i think but this is gonna get a lot of warm weather replays.
I didn't get into this band until last year at some point. I discovered "Lovely Little Lonely" and was very impressed with their songwriting and talent as musicians. Each member brings so much to their sound and they are quite powerful as a unit. I backtracked to "American Candy" and loved it as well. Just finished my first full listen of "You Are OK" and wow. Just wow. These guys are incredible. I'd dismissed them years ago because I'd grown tired of the pop punk thing, and these guys grew up and transcended the genre, much like Paramore. I can't think of another band in recent memory that pivoted and evolved the way this band has. I'm even more impressed with the fact that they've been doing everything independently for a while now. I'm sure that wasn't the easiest decision for them, but it pays off in having complete control of their sound, image, shows, etc.. They have a permanent fan here and I'm on board with anything they do in the future. This album will be on all summer for me. Looking forward to the memories it'll help create. :)
Agree completely - i never liked them before LLL and even after reviews of LLL on this here website i was still skeptical but so happy i gave them another go
For me, it was hearing Jason and guests talk very highly about LLL on the Encore podcast that caused me to finally listen to it. I was missing out for sure and I'm glad The Maine is now on my radar thanks to this site and the Encore podcast. Thanks Jason.
I got into The Maine when Pioneer came out. I always knew them because I followed Warped tour heavily but never got into the first two albums when they were out. Pioneer is still my favorite followed by LLL. This is very good. I don't know where it lands on my favorites but is one of my favorites of the year so far.
God I've been so desperate for an album like this for so long. I go looking for this feeling everywhere. Heaven, We're Already Here and it's this record
