Just think of it live, with people really bouncing during the chorus. I can't imagine a large crowd not grooving to it
Was thinking Heaven might be the best song on here but then Flowers happened and now it's just a toss-up for me.
Am I going absolutely insane or have "My Best Habit" and "Numb Without You" been slightly tinkered with/remixed for the album? I swear both sound just...slightly different. Unless this is just the first time I listen to either on Spotify. I have no idea.
Just when I thought I couldn't love this any more than I already do, I listened to it on headphones for the first time. Production is top notch.
This is easily one of their strongest efforts to date. I think Pioneer will forever be my favorite but this record might eventually become my second favorite record of theirs. It's very good.
Just finished my first listen and immediately ordered the vinyl, shipping charges be damned. This is incredible.
That thing that I love about this album is that it is so definitively, and unabashedly, The Maine. So many of these melodies and ideas harken back to the music that was being written in the mid to late 00's, including Snow Patrol, The Killers, TEB, MCR, Green Day, etc. It's a different kind of throwback than I'm used to hearing, and the band is firing on all cylinders. Incredible guitarwork, John sounds amazing, the variations and sounds that the drumming encapsulate are all fantastic. I should really post the entire review by @trevorshmevor who said everything that really needs to be said about this record.
Pioneer era was badass. That was the record that confirmed to me that they were a cut above the rest, something special. It was like a middle finger to the music industry
Listened to it twice already and I wanna go home so I can cry some more. I cannot believe how personal this album is.
Yeah! I have that doc about the making of it and I love it. I also think that sound is my favorite era of Maine. This record is definitely sounding just as good though...
Got about halfway through this on my commute this morning, really liking it so far, the first song sounds so huge.
it's very good but not great. maybe listened to it 5 times now and i'd say if i had to rank all their albums it'd be Little Lovely Lonley American Candy Pioneer You Are Okay Can't Stop Won't Stop Black And White Forever Halloween
Give it more time, haha. I wouldn't be so quick to start throwing it into rankings the day it came out
I feel like John is speaking from a different place here..very story like in the way the songs blend together concept wise. This is going to be huge, any station that does not play One Sunset in the summer must not like music
For me: Pioneer > You Are Okay > American Candy/Forever Halloween Deluxe > Little Lovely Lonely > Black and White >>>>>> Can't Stop Won't Stop
