Yeah this is unsurprisingly great. Awesome follow-up to one of my favorite rock albums in recent memory. Gonna be playing this all summer
How am just realizing the guitar riff in the left speaker in Numb Wothout You I Feel It All Over’s chorus is heavy Heaven has a LOT going on, excited to circle back here. Works fantastic as a centerpiece to the album One Sunset should be a winner on alt rock radio over the summer Flowers is far and away the career highlight here Overall, WOW WOW WOW, from an arrangement and songwriting perspective, this is such a massive lurch forward for the band. Are the songs as immediate? I don’t think so, but there was not a moment on this album where I wasn’t impressed by what they were doing.
Someone in the YouTube comments for Flowers On The Grave pointed out that the song ends @ 9:23. 8123...8+1=9. Might be reaching, but it's a cool little nod if it was done on purpose.
I have been a light listener of The Maine from an earlier era but man, this record has aged with me. That closer is a fucking jam.
Just about finished my second run through of the album, it might be my favorite album by them. This bands journey from 2007-present is just crazy.
haha. i was there, i think it was "just numb without you." it def wound up picking up, people were dancing hard. but yeah, the crowd was almost like entirely early 20's females. i felt very old as a 32 year old man
Yeah to think this is the same band that came from the 'neon' era of pop punk is nuts. Album sounds great. Really dig it. Closer is a JAM
set from last night: Numb Without You Don't Come Down Diet Soda Society Right Girl Broken Parts Miles Away How Do You Feel? Misery Forever Halloween Bad Behavior Count Em One, Two, Three The Sound of Reverie Like We Did Forevermore Taxi My Best Habit Am I Pretty Black Butterflies We'll All Be Another Night on Mars thought it was interesting no English Girls, Girls Do What They Want, My Heroine. also, no encore. show was incredible though, they really know how to get the crowd involved and have fun.
I’m in awe of this band and what they’ve become. Been there since discovering The Way We Talk on MySpace back in high school and following their growth for all these years has been thrilling. A band I truly grew up with. This album is a culmination of that growth in so many ways. I love it.
On my second listen and saving my thoughts until a couple more listens. But the strings on this are amazing. Need to get that deluxe edition
I know it’s been said a million times but it can’t be overstated, I can’t believe this bands progress over the years. This album is incredible
Initial thoughts: this is their most powerful album for sure. It's really stunning and was a really emotional first listen for me (particularly the first and last song). Tears Won't Cry and One Sunset both sound like they could make some real waves. I like how diverse the sound is. I really just loved teh whole thing, and Flowers On The Grave didn't feel like its runtime at all. I'm no longer going to say I can't believe how far they've come or that I can't believe it's the same band who made Can't Stop Won't Stop, because at this point, this level of excellence is exactly what I've come to expect from a band called The Maine.
