I was at one of the early shows where they closed with Another Night On Mars and then Face Towards The Sun and that was absolutely brutal to deal with. I’m glad I got to hear Some Days cause that only lasted for 2 shows. It’s so good live so idk why they dropped it.
The emotional part of it. It was amazing no doubt, but it was 2 emotional songs back to back and I was no expecting to cry for almost 10 minutes straight.
Just saw that Loved You A Little hit #8 on the Billboard Alternative Chart. That has to be their best charting song right?
For the "Alternative Airplay" chart, yes it seems this is it. Surprised that the highest Sticky got was #16. I liked this song, but I thought there were much catchier ones on XOXO that would've been higher than this song. I know nothing about charts and how marketing/promotion affects these things though, so I don't consider mine an educated opinion. Happy for their success nonetheless!
Just heard Sticky in the wild at Six Flags in Lake George. First time I’ve ever heard the Maine just randomly in public
Came back to this album for the first time in a minute, holds up really well. Face Towards the Sun is an absolute banger, if this band knows how to do one thing it is write closers.
I agree that this record holds up quite strongly. I like it more than the prior one and it serves as a nice follow up to Lovely Little Lonely. The only song that really doesn’t do anything for me is “If Your Light Goes Out”.
I kind of want that to be a whole album of them doubling down on the The 1975-type stuff they did on XOXO.
Same here. My feeling is that it might be a one-off though, especially considering they were recently in the studio just starting to record stuff for what I assume is the next album cycle. I doubt any of that stuff would be done yet.
So back in March these guys had a headlining show here in NYC at a 1,500 cap venue and didn't sell it out. Next month, just 6 months after that show, they're playing a 3,500 capacity venue here. And it's sold out. Did they really get THAT much popular recently? Crazy too I've had a few friends say they want to go to the show next month, but I swear if I asked them 6 months ago they would've probably never even heard of The Maine. I guess Loved You A Little is doing a lot for them. Awesome to see! (but also urghhh I shouldn't have waited to get my ticket haha)
I think it's more that they marketed this show as a special event similar to 8123 fest, so there's a lot more people traveling to it than there would've been at a regular NYC show on a tour. They only really have festival dates on the calendar this fall too They continue to find the absolute smartest ways to promote themselves and build a community around their band
Could very well still be a banger, and that's just an acoustic rendition. I hope it's a big one, they seem to have momentum on their side, and I think they need another big pop rock hit.
