Yeah sounds muddled and mashed together - it’s just okay. He sounds the best without question. Song never really takes off like I want it too.
Yea the production is very messy, needs to be cleaned up for sure. Really dig the song though, especially the back and forth…
Yeah I actually think Adam sounds kinda trash on this haha. In general I don’t think the three voices work very well together. But the song is catchy as hell, favorite hook they’ve written in a while. Sounds a bit YOA era instrumentally too, which is cool
They mentioned at fest this song was written after xoxo and they knew immediately they wanted Adam on it. They had no idea who to use on the female vocal part and shelved the song for about a year till they saw Charlotte on sad summer. She recorded her part about 2 months ago.
Song itself is awesome, all three artists sound great (even if you clearly hear Adams sharply tuned parts clearly lol). Love the dueling vocals so much, just wish the drums sounded “bigger” and that it was mixed much more seamlessly
i really love this song. my only gripe: the tuning in this song is a lot. and not just on adam. part of it is just his style of singing where he kind of breaks up words. i'm pretty sure it's intentional, it's just not my thing.
Damn, kinda chaotic. It’s like they couldn’t decide which melody to use so they used all of them haha
I enjoy the song quite a lot, but just like 'Go On Then, Love', I'd prefer to hear a Maine only version, though I understand that might not work with the call and response style verses here
I feel like we also should be acknowledging that this might already be starting a whole new era for them? Sticky was their biggest song to date, so it makes sense that they'd be trying to capitalize on that; but the idea of getting a new LP sooner than later is exciting!
I think it’s just a one off single but I’ll happily admit to being wrong as who wouldn’t want more of The Maine at this point.
