I think my ranking is LLL YAO XOXO AC FH Pioneer B&W CSWS So, reverse chronological except that LLL and XOXO are switched
Lovely Little Lonely You Are OK XOXO American Candy Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Don’t really have an opinion about the rest. I went dark and didn’t care for or listen to The Maine at all from like 2010-2015. American Candy brought me back in and they’ve been on absolute fire ever since.
Had a lot to say apparently, not that anyone asked haha. quote boxes to not page stretch too much LLL YOA AC CSWS XOXO B&W Pioneer Forever Halloween
Still don’t understand the hate for Forever Halloween, I feel like if they made that album more recently everybody would be ok with it. It reminds me of the dislike for The Academy Is album Santi. If Santi would have come out as the bands 3rd album instead of being the follow up to the debut I feel like it would’ve been better received.
I don't hate Forever Halloween, but it definitely adds a ~40 minute lull in the context of a discography run.
Actually not really. Black & White was the album that got me into them, and then I didn’t really like another one until American Candy. Just hit at the right time, I suppose.
I do love this song, and it’s the only one that ever made sense to me for the full orchestra version of the album. That chorus is huge.
Fun fact: until literally today, I was under the impression that Butch had produced it for some reason, hence the wisecrack. No idea why I thought that either
Right? That was the one that immediately brought be back to the old days of emo pop punk. One of the biggest sounding songs I've heard in a moment.
That entire album plays so well on hot summer days. I jammed it a few times on the Fourth of July this year.
Listening through now, there are definitely several parts of that song that make me think, “Oh yeah, Butch definitely wrote that.”
Never realized how much I love the Thunder Road-esque piano in Growing Up. Listening to that whole album now.
