Just finished my second listen. Damn this is so good. Makes me upset that my city's Sad Summer date has been sold out for a year, I would LOVE to hear this stuff live. I still think Sticky is one of the best songs they've written. Even if it's not my favorite, that's the one that should be catapulting their success. And the last 3 songs on this is a hell of a ride.
7.5/10 after first listen for me. Appreciate the experimentation in the first half, fucking love everything about the second half of the album. This will surely grow on me with time. This one already seems a bit more leaned outside compared to You Are Ok and I like that one a lot.
Listening to Face Towards the Sun (for the 5th time now) and It just took me back to when my Step father passed away in November. He passed away at 6:30am on a Saturday as the sun was rising and shining into the room. What a damn rush of emotions
sending love your way, lost my mom in 2016 and yesterday my roommate knocked on the door cause he heard me crying. It was the first time I heard Face Towards The Sun. Just such a beautiful song.
First time through the album, but Anxiety in Real Time and Face Towards the Sun are probably going to end up as top five all time The Maine songs for me.
Hmm....the Pretender mix is starting to make sense, John just said he re-recorded his vocals on his own after they had an entirely different lyric/melody/chorus. Could that make sense on why it sounds a bit out of place?
band has always been a little hit or miss for me but i'm surprised by how much i enjoyed this one on first listen
This isn't hitting me quite the way it is others, at least not yet. It's undoubtedly good, and I'll spin it a ton this summer for sure. but it's just not connecting with me the way You Are OK did. I'm sure it'll grow on me, though.
Just listened with headphones for the first time and the solo from Lips plays at the end of Love In Real Time. This band is so good at stuff like that, like how that one bit of guitar feedback is all over LLL
That’s my favorite song on here right now. And that feedback sounds like anxiety, it’s wild to me haha
I've had AC, LLL, XOXO and John's solo album on repeat all afternoon. Even made a playlist so they all just go right into the next one.
