I did and it was something else. It was about 2 and a half hours and got more crazy as time went on. They ended up playing Fuel To The Fire, which was amazing. John kept trying to leak the album by playing it on his phone. Whenever they put it on Pillar, I highly recommend watching it.
I had forgotten when this came out and figured it had to be soon. Damn, can't believe it's still two months away. Definitely too long of a rollout for this era of music consumption.
Yes. As an independent band, they especially need to be able to tour. Launching it the first day of Sad Summer was by design.
Yeah I think they should have waited a bit before announcing it as the roll out has been too long. Ideally the first single would have been good now, leading up to the 2 month release. But hey still faster than the new AVA record.
They're also sorta working a new angle with radio, so this is a bit of a new situation for them as an independent band. They have Virgin and Photo Finish on board to help with radio, and "Sticky" has been taking on both satellite and terrestrial radio. I think it's top 25 now? Need to keep that going and building before the record comes out.
Like I said when the release date was announced, I wish this had come out end of May because having it for the whole summer would've been nice considering that appears to be the vibe.
Agreed on all above. Dropping the first single so many months before the record just creates this super long, drawn out delay. Its almost like the excitement builds and then by the time the record comes out it has dropped again, and i find myself saying “oh, right, this came out today”.
If this helps them to break through to a larger audience with bigger first week numbers, then I'm okay with that, as this band certainly deserves the success. I think the wait is just tough for the fanbase that's been anxiously awaiting to get their hands on the record.
