I listened to Self Titled and XOXO on part of my run today. I can also say Self titled is my 2nd fav now. I remember I didn’t latch on to it at all at first. I used to say XOXO was #2. High forever/April 7/if your light goes out is a weak stretch for me on that one and it brings the album down. Where as self titled doesn’t have a weak stretch. (Though I’ve heard them all at least once,I really only know LLL and the albums after)
Yeah LLL and s/t are clearly the high points in their discog so far however that feels discrediting to what the band has done over the last 10 years - they’re one of the best rock bands out there now
This was an absolute snooze for me. Especially the back half, but YAO and LLL are next level, so I am always hoping for a return to form.
Selling 2 tickets to the American Candy show at Chain Reaction on Wednesday October 15th. $150 for the pair. Let me know if you’d like them!
It’s a good one. I remember watching it when they first put it up on their Pillar account and really digging it. There’s a really great live version of Into Your Arms that they uploaded to YouTube and I keep going back and playing it every so often
really hoping Fred is involved in the writing process. I feel like it could result in something really special
I'm really curious what direction they're going to go in with their sound here. LLL and The Maine are two of my favorites by them and they sit a very significant cut above the rest. They seem to be at a bit of a crossroads with some of their recent stuff - singles have ranged from more pop punk style (Loved You A Little) to a more pop/dance vibe (Touch). For a while I thought that the self titled record was their way of closing a certain chapter of the band and that we might see a totally different vibe here moving forward. We will see..
I did a Lovely Little Lonely run-through tonight for the first time in a while. Easily one of my favorite albums of the decade.
