I’m kind of thinking the same - also the colors on Instagram are the Sad Summer colors so it could be that, who knows. They’ve been on a 2 year LP cycle for a long while now so I would be shocked if we got another one before next summer.
I asked them about it last November during their Portland stop, and all i got was a smile and a nod LOL.
Took me almost a full year to warm up to it, but I’m totally obsessed with Cars & Caution Signs. I start every car ride with it since summer started.
That song is great, but it's probably the 7th or 8th best song on the record. The first half is just way too stacked.
I Think About You All the Time is still the best on the album with Blame not far behind. Andrew Goldstein from The Friday Night Boys fame has been at the helm of quite a few of my favourite songs in recent years.
“Thoughts I Have…” represent. I don’t think it’s ever not been my favourite since my first listen of this record.
Blame is the one for me, that song is relentless. Although it doesn't translate as well live, at least the two times I saw them do it. There are at least two songs on both this and XOXO I just straight up don't enjoy so if this is a new album cycle I hope I'm back all in again.
At this point I think I slot “The Maine” in behind “Lovely Little Lonely” in terms of album quality and cohesiveness. It really has become a huge staple in my playlist over the past year.
The caption for the song on their tiktok mentions it being a new era, so maybe it is an album. Song out at 6 pm pacific time.
This album never reached “love” status for me, and hasn’t really elevated over time. I still like it, but it’s lesser Maine for me. Probably my fifth or sixth favorite of theirs, honestly.
Same! I always thought I was crazy cause I wasn’t hearing what everyone else was hearing. Spiraling and Funny How? are straight up bad songs to me. Do really enjoy the first half, tho.
“Spiraling” is not for me. I like “Funny How.” I like everything else on this album. But the songs rarely reach the heights of their past albums, for me. Now that I’m thinking about it, I’d probably put it 7th in their discography.
