With how much they prioritized going outside the box on YAO, I don’t think this a totally fair assessment to say they went to him just for the nostalgia of it all. It makes sense they went with someone besides Colby
That said, I always remember a tweet from some years ago that went something like “Nobody: ____. The Maine: We have been a band since two thousand and SEVEN. Don’t know how many years that is? We’ll remind you every day” and ever since then it’s been noticeable how much they really do love to lean into the history of their band lol. I can see the nostalgia factor and why Pat may have said that
I’ve always enjoyed this band, but I absolutely love this album, and it’s their standout, in my opinion.
I'm NOT going to say this is starting to become my favorite album by The Maine it's TOO SOON and I'm NOT saying that
I think Heaven is the best song on the album but if you dont like the first three songs I doubt you will like the rest of it.
Spiraling is an after thought - Confirmed lol also - idk his name but I vibe hard with who I think is the basist? They also hit the nail on the head of cars for me. this was lovely
I just usually bail before it comes on, and I am totally ok with that being my approach to listening to/enjoying this album.
Oh word - either way I fuck with the blonde bearded guitarist - very insightful and we have the same idea/ears.
Would be very interested in knowing what that original version of Exit sounded like. An acoustic version without that main lead sounds like such a different song
Open the blinds, it's summertime Up in my mind, I feel so high I'm in the clouds, when I think about you ... I'm all. fucked. up. on. you. The song feels like waking up from a nap on a summer afternoon
Wow. I just finished that video and the fact that Jared references dua lipa on leave in five is hilarious to me. My moms got a good ear, damn haha.
I believe a few of us in here (myself included) spotted the Dua inspiration right off the hop. The post-2nd chorus part in particular is lifted from Don't Start Now and once you catch that you can feel the bass/clean-rhythm interplay is pretty closely tied to her as well
Okay okay. So it finally clicked. Walking to the gym from my house about a mile away. And funny how? comes on and it finally clicked. I like cars and caution signs, and love every other track. funny how reminds me of the Imaginary Numbers EP and I loved that EP
I'd love for them to just release all of those demos from that listening session in the Miserable Youth episode.
