    - Die To Fall was the main contender for the first single. The only other song they considered for a while was Palms.
    - It’s pretty much as-is from the demo. There were two versions (both had the tempo shift), one that didn’t feature the extra fast drumming flourishes and one that did. The faster flourishes won out, they called that the “New York City” version.
    - The entire video was shot over a weekend. John filmed his scenes with the car and band on Friday. The teenager storyline was filmed Saturday and Sunday. Editing then happened all the way up to 4pm on Tuesday. The video was released the following morning.
    - They have recorded 4 different music videos already, Die To Fall included.
    - They (the band) bought the car for $1,500. They wanted something suburban, indicative of the suburbs. The guy who sold it said it was in an 80s movie (he couldn’t remember which). It has a 5 gallon tank under the hood. They were going to paint it themselves but thankfully had a professional do it.
    - The shot of John on the car with his arms outstretched was achieved by the car being on a trailer being pulled by another vehicle. Garrett drove the vehicle and said he was terrified doing so, for fear of something going wrong. The highest speed he could go is 20mph. They considered shooting that scene in “the tunnel,” a part of Phoenix, but decided against it since it’s a freeway. They didn’t have any permits to shoot (but shot anyway).
    - There aren’t interludes on the album; well, not what Garrett would consider an interlude.
    - When it’s mentioned that album number 10 was a struggle it’s for a variety of reasons. Examples include: a hard drive failed them so Pat had to re-record drums, essentially starting from square one, for 4 songs; they had somebody (well known for some incredible albums) mix a few songs but the mixes they received were disappointing (Garrett didn’t specify who but I’m assuming they didn’t continue having this person mix any songs. I’m also assuming they had somebody else mix the entire record since they all love how the final record came together); Garrett could tell John was really going through it for this one. He said he knew John had a vision in his head for what he wanted to hear and say but it took some time matching what was in his head with what they were creating. Garrett put up some of their favorite records in the room John was writing lyrics in (Bowie, Casino, to name a few). He also had John’s wife have their kids create and color messages about album number 10. Although it took time, Garrett said John came around and it all clicked for him.
    - Garrett said that this record, for him, deals with elements of (and all of us who share their same age range) going through a midlife crisis of sorts. Coming to grips with the fact that your youth is gone. You can’t go back to it, no matter how much you may want to. He said it wouldn’t work to try to do so either, to go back.
    - As a whole, it’s a really good record, a good experience from front to back.
    - Garrett said he believes the last song on the record is the best song John has ever written. It’s not necessarily an anthemic song (a la Flowers) but it’s powerful in a different way. Garrett seemed floored by it when he talked about it.
    - Die To Fall is one of the fastest songs on the record. Garrett said “Pat is gonna hate himself” in reference to playing these songs live; alluding to tempo or intricacies of the songs, I’m assuming.
    - Sean, the producer on this record, helped pinpoint a sound and more specifically, an idea they’ve been trying years to pinpoint. He said it helped that Sean’s their same age, grew up listening to and loving the same music.
    - They will release “one, maybe two” new songs before the tour starts in March.

Pillar presale is live. There are 5 vinyl variants. Earth tone, like a brownish beige swirl, 500 units. A frosted green, 750 units. A darker smokey green, 750 units. A blue white splatter, 500 units. And an orange variant with an alternate album cover that I believe you can only get through a deluxe bundle ($150). All other variants can be purchased on their own (bundles are also available for each). $35 per variant.

As I have learned Maine Vinyl seems to be rather limited.

Just bought Dyed on Discogs for just over double the price of the new album.

Got the Blue/White, along with the XOXO Live and a shirt. Would’ve considered one of their bundles if I wasn’t afraid of missing out altogether lol

I did that, but don't feel good about it. They got me on the AC anniversary and self-titled release too. This is likely the last time I'll sign up, unless it's for LLL anniversary, and they'll get me again. Hopefully there'll be more another live set I can rip from their library by then.

I'll probably do it when they finally repress LLL, because that's maybe my number 1 White Whale at the moment.

Every single thing about this is exciting, particularly the fact that we're getting another song relatively soon. Thanks for putting this all together

I panicked when I saw the 750 pressings sold out so I just very quickly checked out with the white/blue splatter and didn’t realize the earth tone one was still in stock.

I would much rather prefer that one, but they’re pretty adamant about no refunds/exchanges, so, oh well. I hate how their vinyl releases feel like buying tickets.

Going to try to get the record at their show.

I have a copy I could part with but I think the insert/poster didn’t come with it when I purchased it (from somebody else).

Picked up one of the green variants and XOXO live on yellow, juuust about worth the £90 shipped to the UK to keep up the collection.

I never got dyed though if anyone wants to sell me a copy…?

Just got the preorder email and text at 1:06PM, roughly three hours after it went live. If I were a casual fan, without any previous knowledge of The Maine's vinyl shenanigans, I would've been shocked to go click that link and find 3 out of 4 vinyl variants were already sold out.

  24. also just got the text lol
