You guys are going to start to get annoyed at me very soon, but the more I listen to their last record and even back to YAO - and then follow it up with “Palms” - the more the production and mix on this new one, particularly the vocals, are driving me insane. Totally mutes the impact of the song for me. I hope the rest are better and will certainly be listening to the whole thing anyway

  3. Not to like be that guy but all the songs sound like the songs released. That's how it's mixed.

While I can appreciate the TEB/LLL sentiment, TEB Self Titled came out of nowhere....its a first album. LLL was preceded by American Candy and several other good albums.

I appreciate the context, and I certainly won’t spend more time in here dogging the mix at all, it just isn’t appealing to my ears personally. Still enjoy the songs generally

I just hope there’s a more upbeat song on the album like Dirty Pretty Beautiful.

I agree on the vocals and the mix though, even though I like all the songs released so far, it’s rough especially compared to lovely little lonely and you are ok.

also Green is on their YouTube for the last few days and I don’t think anyone noticed cause it has like 15 views lol

American Candy and LLL made all the previous albums a lot better then they seemed at release for me.

Just using the TEB parallel to compliment the boys in a huge way. That self titled record will always stand on its own as an extraordinary album, not to mention a debut. It inspired (and continues to inspire) countless artists and bands. LLL feels at times like a twin to what 3EB created. Like it somehow shares a bit of the same DNA.

Perhaps the boys took Christopher Nolan’s masterclass on sound editing? /s

Hoping for more 1 minute in vibes for the rest of the album hah. 3:31 is good but I feel like it loses momentum when the do do do’s come in, and I feel like Palms loses momentum in the same way with the yeah yeah yeahs

Funny you say that! Im the complete opposite. I love the do do do's and yeah yeah yeah haha

I agree with the mix as I prefer the more punchy vocals but I love all the tracks released. Very excited to have the whole thing.

I don’t not like them I just find the mixing rough and puts the momentum of the instruments back instead of being more of a backing vocal lol. #ReleaseTheColbyMix

Colby really does understand their sound. Love his production. Everything just pops.

Too close to lift off now, not going to cave and listen to Green.

I adore every album they’ve made with Colby and I am much more mixed on the ones they haven’t worked with him on, so I agree

Just watched the Joe Vulpis Podcast. John confirmed 8123 Fest will be happening, it will be in Arizona; it’s The Maine 20th anniversary so they’re gonna figure out how extra they wanna be. I can’t wait. Not to mention the 10th anniversary of Lovely Little Lonely. Lots to look forward to.

While I know they won't do a full-album anniversary tour for LLL, I'll settle for a pro-shot from 8123 Fest if nothing else.

I think they’ll definitely do several LLL performances front to back in different cities. I can actually see them going across the country for it. It’s such a massive album for them.

Give me Modern Nostalgia 2.0: play the new album and then LLL back to back
