The Lulls in Traffic - Rabbit in the Snare (May 22nd, 2017) Album • Page 4

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by Ben, Apr 10, 2017.

  1. Definitely think this album would be better without the rapping. Aaron steals the show 100%. Ivan's flow just isn't that interesting, his delivery is monotone, and while he has interesting stories to tell, he doesn't really tell them in interesting ways. He could learn a lot from the idea of "show, don't tell."

I was super excited for this and now I'm just kind of meh about the whole thing. The instrumentals are beautiful though, I'd love to get those (it's kind of mean to ask for the songs with just rapping removed even if I want that).

I gotta disagree with the anti Ives sentiment. I think his lyrics are great. If you don't like his talky style, that's one thing, but I don't think there's an argument to diminish his lyrical contribution.

How many more visuals do you need?

  4. I mean, those are the best lyrics on the record. Maybe my analysis was off base, but I still didn't find most of what he said compelling. At least compelling enough to justify the lack of interesting delivery.

His lyrics are fine. He's just not an interesting musician, rapper, or vocalist by any standards. And maybe this is a tad harsh, but he's also white so that's another strike against him. I don't think he needs to be cut from the record, but rarely do I find his vocal additions necessary or compelling-- though there are few moments when the gravel of his voice matches the chop-and-start shining production just perfectly enough that it sounds really good, like in Regret. Or maybe those are Ceschi's parts haha. Either way, I've always really liked the rapping in that track.

This album doesn't feel like an album. It's more like a mix tape full of half baked demos. And to be honest, the rapping doesn't really work too well. There's a few decent tracks though.

Yeah, this is definitely my least favorite album Aaron has done. There's some parts I'm really into, but most of it is kind of just whatever. I'm glad this was finally released though.

I'd disagree that it doesn't feel like an album though. I think it has a cohesive sound from start to finish even if it's not the best album ever.

My favourite track is Touch. I love that song.

Yea.. idk that seems like a pretty weak argument, there is definitely a cohesive sound throughout

This album's pretty cool overall. I do agree that Ivan's not really my favorite, but it doesn't take away too much. I'm actually surprised how little he is on this. Some of these songs are really great.

I finally listened to this and I really like it. It's basically Ixora: Part 2 with some rapped vocals thrown in the mix

This has grown on me a lot. Was unsure at first, but now I'm totally into it. Has anyone else warmed up to the album more since it came out?

I liked it quite a lot when it was first released but haven't returned much in recent times. There are some great songs though. In fact, 'Touch' might be one of my favourites from this year.

They're doing a couple shows. Kinda surprising. Maybe that will open the door to a full tour?
