  1. I liked ... most of the characters a lot. I've always been confused how this show was perceived/received.

Just think it’s mostly the Tolkien purists who wouldn’t like anything anyways lol. I get the frustration of not sticking with the lore (Halo show), but I think the show was still really fun and still captured some Tolkien magic

It also helps that it aesthetically looks like the movies. Doesn’t feel too disjointed for me and fills in the gaps nicely. I get if people don’t love it, but some of the discourse saying it’s flat out “bad” I just find silly.

Trailer looks great, can’t wait. Even if the first season wasn’t like, perfect, it pulled me right back into LotR for months after, re reading the books and watching the movies, etc.

Basically this. It got me back into a universe I hadn’t revisited in a while and I got to fall in love with it all over again.

nah RoP is a lot more high fantasy in both narrative and look than LotR and especially Hobbit

Overall enjoyed the season. The worst part was when they put The Southlands on screen and then burned it away and put Mordor.

Yeah I think that was all pretty much universally hated. Very dumb

I finished rewatching the first season, it was interesting seeing the Halbrand stuff knowing how S1 ends. I also completely forgot Galadriel thinks Celeborn is dead, so expecting some kind of storyline there this season

Finishing my rewatch of season one now. Will probably start season two on Sunday since I’ll be college footballing all day tomorrow.

This is so much palatable when viewed as extremely well crafted fan fiction. I adore fantasy. I love what the show is doing. But man, so much of it just doesn’t feel like Tolkien. And that’s fine on some levels. I don’t want to sound like all those staunch haters out there with this. There’s a lot of good and fun here and I’m gonna watch all of it. Just my super nerd brain processing this.
