  1. I also like the "lighter" tone compared to house of the dragon. Not trying to compare the shows by any means but it's nice to have not such a heavy fantasy show.

Yeah they're clearly going for very different vibes and I like having both.

  3. Its current “”“counterpart””” House of the Dragon (that is also excellent) is moving incredibly fast. I can definitely appreciate a show with more world building and slower pace. I don’t need a massive event in every episode. I enjoy the screen time with the characters

I think House of the Dragon can skip worldbuilding since 8 GoT seasons already did it for it.

  5. I only have snarky comments to add. ;-p

  6. Well I wasn’t accusing you of the nastiness/racism/etc that a lot of people have used as fuel for hating this show, so apologies if that wasn’t clear

It’s just hard for me to understand how someone couldn’t enjoy anything about this show. Sure there have been parts I haven’t liked and I’m sure that will continue going forward but imo it’s one of the better things to watch right now. And I’m probably a 7/10 on the Tolkien Nut scale so I’m well aware of the deviations from the canon or whatever

I'd say overall I am disappointed thus far, but hat said I am still watching it every week. I absolutely adore how they have brought Khazad-dum, Lindon, and Ost-in-Edhil to life. I guess halfway through the season already I had just hoped for a little more so far.

    Aren’t there 5 seasons guaranteed? We’re 4 hours into a possible 50+

I feel like the reason for some of the insane outrage over this show is that during the years leading up to its release the two main questions were basically either "are they going to ripoff GOT?" or "are they going to ripoff Peter Jackson's trilogy?" The answer is that it's ripping off neither, which has seemingly broken a lot of people's brains.

I agree with this, but I think a lot of non-network “prestige television” or whatever you want to call it that try to do this would benefit from making more episodes faster. I’m a little annoyed by watching ten episodes were nothing happens (exaggeration) only to wait 18 months for another ten episodes were almost nothing happens. I’m not talking about this show, still need to get to it.

Idk, this has jumped to the very top of shows I look forward to each week. I was on a plane yesterday and watched this and She Hulk back to back and the whiplash almost broke my neck.

  14. We made the mistake last week of doing that.

Watched the first episode now that we’re done with A League Of Their Own (which I recommend). I’m all in already.

The Harfoots literally singing the famous “Not all those who wander are lost”, oh my. I love this show. That line has always meant so much to me on a very personal level and my wife knows it. She looked over at me while that scene was playing and asked “you good over there?” and I had the biggest smile on my face. Got a little dusty.

  24. Another jaw dropper episode. My word. Multiple holy fuck moments. The music. The depth of all these stories going on at once and starting to gel.

god daaaamn that ending musical cue
