Stuff I listened to this weekend so far. The new Julien baker songs are phenomenal. I love the guitar work on red door New all get out ep and No Bouquet - the ep sort of just reminded me how much this band rules. Thrice - deeper wells > palms Bad books III - cool record not what I was expecting but after several listens it grew on me a ton. Slightly disappointed but that’s okay, still great stuff.
Ahhh. Thanks. Need to put some effort in and see if I can transfer my iTunes stats to Last.fm and start scrobbling again, ha!
I JUST SAW! And they’re playing my city, and I just talked to @mattfreaksmeout last week about how I’d never got to see them live
Pet Peeve I need to address: When people who clearly do not know the music off the playlists i'm playing at work fake mumble their way through the songs as they view the collection. Like, you 75 year old man I know you do not know this track off The Weeknd's first EP but yes, please continue to try and harmonize terribly I love listening to this.
It's really a regular thing. I don't know why but some just feel the need to present themselves as aware and hip to the young crowd so as to lure my selling service. They look at designer brands we sell which have only been out for 2 years (one funny example coming to mind) and go "Oh I remember this brand. Yeah the quality seems to have gotten better cause it wasn't so hot when I was seeing it in NY back in my 30's." I don't even respond I just grin awkwardly like WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SAYING RIGHT NOW. There's been times where i've had some try to backtrack and say "It must not be the same brand I was thinking of but they definitely got this idea from them." It's so ridiculous that I try not to internalize the stupidity of the conversations and forget they happen.
Not gonna lie if I like know a song/the melody but don’t know all the words I will mumble along sometimes (but not if I just don’t know it at all)
Trust me when I say these people are forming words in the moment that aren't in the songs playing, and trailing behind each harmonized note as it goes. It's painful. And for whatever reason, happens regularly. I once had the 1975's The Sound playing, and I heard a dad doing this. His two kids and wife were also visiting our shop and after his son asks him what the song was he goes "It's been a while since i've heard this but I think it's a deep cut from Prince." I had to leave the floor to laugh and text friends.
The twist is that guy is also on a messageboard somewhere talking about how he loves to mess with young people by being impossibly out of touch.
