I all seriousness, I have rarely felt compelled to write up a student, unless they’re being an absolute terror or physically hurting another kid. I usually just handle that stuff in house with a more counseling approach because I learned early on that admin and parents are practically useless anyways.

It’s a school that has a school uniform so I have never seen a kid come in with a red hat. I do have a kid this year who has legitimate racist positions despite being in 5th grade, and he makes jokes about the wall and shit. I’m pretty quick to shut it down and then I’ve been talking to him throughout the year about it and trying to reshape him before it’s too late. His parents are awful and are almost intentionally trying to fuck him up with their shitty politics based off of my conversations with them.
