The need part is accurate, but they can be improved with the right condiments.

I mean that’s not necessarily wrong either

 

I will concede that malt vinegar by itself is good on fries. Especially those that are fried in peanut oil.

I more take issue with things like ketchup or ranch dressing that are bad on their own and drowning perfectly good potatoes in them. I could not use any kind of sauce on them for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy though.

 

And they add it without seeing if it's necessary first

 

Yeah, most of the time I get fries I don't use any condiments. I like ketchup on a rare occasion, but only with certain types of fries and in the right setting. It'd be last place in my "appropriate condiments for potatoes ranking"... borderline inappropriate. People dipping fries or potatoes in ranch can go get ****** *** ******** ** ******* ** **** *** ****.
