Figured I'd get a thread going for this since it's building and should be out in just about 2 years. We're looking at yet another live-action, reimagining of a Disney animation classic. Directed by Jon Favreau, who brought us the same deal with The Jungle Book in 2016. To all of our joy, this will remain a musical. Cast: *Edited for full cast release on 11/1. Anyways, list off your current judgment, further potential casting or just your excitement for it!
I don't understand why this is being labeled "live-action". Remember the Disney movie "Dinosaur" where they shot in real locations and then CG'd the dinosaurs? That wasn't considered live action right?
Yep, no idea how this is live action when it doesn't have any humans in. Do they motion capture the faces of the voice actors as they speak or something like that? No idea. I'm very cautious about this remake. It's one of my favourite Disney films. Thankfully Favreau did a brilliant job with Jungle Book so at least it has that going for it.
the lion king is one of my favorite disney movies, and I'm a huge disney nerd so to say I'm excited is an understatement. I get more excited each time they announce a new cast member!
Looks like they gave a slight tease and showed off the first Simba revelation at D23. This article is pretty good at describing their production process. 'Lion King': Disney Unveils Jaw-Dropping First Footage Of Jon Favreau's Remake at D23
Dang, Jackman is a good pick but I still can't believe they didn't get Irons back. Having all that new casting with OG Mufasa and Scar would have been perfect.
dang, she was pretty perfect. Have they not announced the hyenas yet? If not, get a trio like the Sunny guys or Workaholic guys.
