I enjoyed both High Rise & Free Fire. should probably look into his earlier stuff.

 

Idk how Wheatley was brought up but Sightseers is mad underrated. Happy New Year, Colin Burstead too.

this was pure madness

 

Just gonna spoiler all my thoughts. Gonna be thinking about this movie forever.

So many images from this movie will stick with me probably forever, like Dafoe's face getting covered with dirt as Pattinson starts to bury him and pretty much any shot involving the one eyed seagull... especially the last one. on one hand I do want to know what actually happened in this story, but I also love how it was impossible to tell how long they were actually at the lighthouse, and how much of what happened was real/just part of their insanity. was old Thomas some sort of sea demon? just a regular old man? or a figment of young Thomas's imagination? were the mermaids real? was anything real??

during the Q&A after the movie there was a guy who was a lighthouse keeper for 10 years right around where the movie was filmed, he said that they totally captured a lot of the crazy things you see working in a lighthouse. I really wanted him to elaborate lol

probably my favourite line was "Yer fond of me lobster!"

some things that reminded me of The VVitch:
- the shot of Pattinson looking into the light reminded me of Thomasin at the fire
- how the natural world felt like a character
- birds!!!

Was it an enjoyable experience? Everyone says it captures the feeling of insanity perfectly but is it something you want to see several times?

 

I enjoyed it and will 100% be seeing it again

 

The closest theater that will be showing this movie is 5 hours away.. major bummer, I thought this would be getting a wider release

and those theaters aren’t even starting to show it till 10/24, weird

 

Didn’t realize this was out this week I’m STOKED

I'm annoyed by spoilers in headlines about this release.

 

Hopefully going tomorrow, have to see Parasite first/tonight.

 

I almost went last night but opted to stay home so I could write a paper for school and then I procrastinated and didn’t even write it lol. Gonna hopefully go next week

 

Have tickets for next Saturday evening since it’s not opening until next weekend here anyhow.
