Forgot to post in here but I saw this last night in a theater with 4 other people. I laughed very hard at “Alright, have it your way. I like yer cookin” and no one else did

As far as I'm concerned they did not see the movie. Because the context that line follows is like one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

    I was right. Prestigious

the first time I saw this (film fest closing gala and tickets were pretty expensive, so everyone there really wanted to see it) there were lots of audible reactions. second time the theatre was silent except my friends and I, no laughs or nothing

I do truly love the use of low-brow humor in this. When the shit gets blown back in his face I was dying.

I am a child but I got a chuckle out of the fact that there is a fart before there’s a line of dialogue

Lemme just say I'm no "cinema" guy as I only see about 5 - 8 films a year but I just left the theater after seeing this fucking floored. Great movie I absolutely love the themes of madness and sanity throughout the story unfolding in such a careful, methodical way. This was very well done. Loved it.

Considering how fucking weird this is, I’m kinda surprised how much people are liking it.

  20. I came to this conclusion as well. I think the movie is more chilling if interpreted as not having any actual supernatural elements. It's interesting that The VVitch, Hereditary, and Babadook do but this, Midsommar, and The Nightingale (I think? Haven't seen it yet) don't.

Well yeah. I don’t think any of these guys will be solely genre directors. I just think they were able to find a way to tell their story best in that genre, for now. I mean, look at Trey Edward Shults.

  23. Huh? I'm just saying it's an interesting parallel for three directors with two films each to have. Get Out has supernatural elements, but so does Us. I didn't mean to imply anything about the genre.

I haven't heard of him. He good, too?

Oh no I wasn’t being aggressive, sorry. I was just saying that even though all these guys started out in horror, I think it’s pretty clear from their second films that they won’t stay in the genre, at least not always.
