This strikes me as something like “Garden State,” where some people will find it deep and moving and others will think of it as nonsense.
I very unexpectedly saw this tonight with my family and all I can think is that it was a real sunbeam of a movie. Also the narrator weirdly reminds me of A Christmas Story.
The Toronto People's Choice Award has a worse track record than Best Picture. A couple of gems but mostly a highlight of some of the most putrid films of the century. It also doesn't inspire much confidence that an English-language film that won a major award ended up taking this long to get a general release. I had not heard of this movie until my mother texted me and asked if I would take her to see it. That is, unfortunately, all I need to know.
Let's Talk About the Ending of 'The Life of Chuck' I think this article is interesting, mainly the part at the end about who the film is dedicated to and arguably who the film was made for. I thought the film was largely inoffensive and not really memorable, but it's interesting to me that critics seem to like this film but you guys have an extremely negative response to it.
