it's not like they don't have the money to do it (new dungeon per episode). they just care more about quarterly earnings than artistic opportunities and a live action feature is the quickest way to big moola
They can just do a self-contained story for every entry and use "somehow, Ganon returned" in the first min of each follow-up
I'd argue that they are being artistically daring by making it live action vs animated, based on the success of the Mario movie.
Giving examples of fantasy films that don’t have the structure of a Zelda story doesn’t quite make it seem any less ridiculous I’m on the 3 film Zelda train until this movie proves it otherwise
Because the "structure" of a Zelda story is let me give you multiple dungeons to solve because this is a video game. My point is you can make a complex fantasy adventure film without forcing the audience to watch Link fumble around in Turtle Rock for the hookshot.
No I’m talking about the structure of events. To defeat Ganondorf, you need the master sword. To get the master sword you need the triforce. To be worthy of the triforce Link has to prove his worth to the sages. For the sages to assign it to Link he has to be called, Etc etc. it’s way more than just simply saying go to different dungeons. Plus whatever sub plot Nintendo gives to Zelda in the film, plus if they want to include gorons, or any other species found throughout Hyrule which would also require Link visiting multiple locations. It would basically be a 2 hour montage of quick events.
Okay, firstly, Link never had to get the Triforce to get the Master Sword, you're conflating that with the symbols of Wisdom, Courage, and Power he had to get to prove his worth, but it wasn't the Triforce. Secondly, that's not how a Zelda game has progressed in years, not since Ocarina, I think. There's been many ways given to prove Link worthy of the Master Sword, not always linked to the Triforce. Which means it's entirely possible to come up with another way for the film, something specific to that story.
The only way the story of Zelda guy will work is if there's a part where he presses A too much while talking to the owl and accidentally loops the dialogue for an entire movie
damn, i'm surprised there's now 2½ pages of this discourse, all because i accidentally posted in this thread instead of the TOTK one. i haven't seen what Nintendo did with supervising the Mario movie (mainly because i just don't care), but my assumption is that any movie they make - regardless of the reception to the final product - is being made knowing that they can somehow hit most of the necessary plot points of the games in 2-2½ hours. granted, nobody but Nintendo, Sony, and the creatives know what the story structure is at the moment, so who knows what the film's starting point or narrative will look like.
Wisdom, Courage, and Power are the triforce though. That’s why the triforce contains Courage, Wisdom, and Power. Link has to prove he has the virtues of the triforce. Then when Link draws the sword the triforce of courage glows on his hand, signifying its importance. We’ll find out in May 2027 if Nintendo/Sony neuters it or not though. Zelda is the one Nintendo IP that shouldn’t be shoveled down into a streamlined story to meet 2 hours time limits. The next question is how much exposition and lore will they write into this script.
About to see it for a third time when Link gets the sword in this trilogy of films But for real, they both happened in games when Link had to confront Ganondorf. Which is pretty solid since Ganondorf has only appeared in 4 main series games. They could have Ganon appear in this film without the need of the master sword. Just give Link arrows
Yeah this is a pretty big stretch to assume so confidently lol. Like, it certainly isn't outside the realm of possibility, but far from a guarantee There was no triforce in the last two mainline Zelda games aside from it glowing on Zeldas hand in BOTW iirc
