Kind of thought I’d found or been spoiled on every cool overworld boss. I was wrong, just got my ass handed to me 7-8 times by a new one. Love this game so much

 

Well for starters, some shrines are actually inside areas or you need to solve a puzzle to make them appear.

For example, in my Arctic Adventures yesterday, there's a cave where you have to retrieve a crystal from a lake, and bring it to a spot inside the cave to make a shrine appear. My attempt to kill a Frost Talus yesterday was also for a similar purpose.

 

Anyway, today I went questing around Central Hyrule, and it's incredible just how much content Nintendo programmed into this. I mean, I can be walking down a road and come across some small minigame, like picking up some lady's stuffed toys. It might serve no purpose other than to get me rupees, but it's a fun distraction.

I did have quite an adventure tonight though: I went in this one cave where there's a Shrine... and a set of Gloom Hands. Managed to cheese it though because I'm assuming they can't get too close to the Shrine? And the Shrine was on a ledge, so I shot bomb arrows at it until it died, and became Phantom Ganon.

Then I started cheesing him the same way, shooting arrows from a distance and whittling away his health. Then he pulled a wild trick where all of a sudden a huge Gloom puddle started flooding the area. I was forced to come down from my ledge and glide over to a non-Gloom area. Fortunately by now he was almost dead, so I managed to take him the rest of the way.

'Twas nerve-wracking. Got a Gloom Sword and a Demon Bow out of it though.

Then I went to this ruined town square to get a well there, and found another one. This time I noped out of there.

OK putting lynels in the depths where you cant even really see em is fucked up man

 

I was starting to feel a bit bummed about how open and uneventful (other than getting murdered) the Depths were but I just found the central mine, got the auto craft and spent over an hour exploring all the ruins around there and it was sick

 

Oh yeah Auto Build truly is worth the pain of the depths alone

 

omg this fire temple boss fight I am screaming at Yunobo "hurry up and go faster Goro you slow fuck"

 

I just had my first encounter too. And I felt it coming like some spidey sense. I was walking peacefully in this cute forest with autumn leaves in the Akkala region when I thought, this is a good spot for a Lynel. Then kept walking and I was right. Ran straight out of there. I still never mastered fighting those in BOTW.

 

I haven’t found a lynel yet, not sure I’m ready lol but I did find one of their bows in a random bokoblin camp chest which is dope

 

I found two in different mountain regions. I walked around them lol

 

I was in that cave too. They can't climb, which is why the shrine area is safe. I did the shrine but they were still there once I came out so I warped out lol

 

Tulin's "power" seems absolutely useless to me, and i am sure there will be moments when i will need Yunobo's charge attack but, boy do I miss Nevali's gale and Mipha's grace. really weak power ups so far in this one. if that had to be my only complaint.

 

I saw online that Yunobo’s is great for mining without using bombs and while a very specific use case, I might prefer that one to Daruk’s. Besides that I prefer all of the old versions though, and even that one is a toss-up.

Tulin's power is great for traveling, particularly between sky islands and in the depths

 

Checked my hours last night and it has me at 45+

still have only done one temple but now I have 6 hearts and filled my first stamina bar

Ive been spending maybe too much time just farming high quality monster parts and expanding my weapons and shield inventory
