I'm kind of torn between wanting to throw caution to the wind and just start trying to open up the map and go shrine hunting, and just trying to stay the course and do things in a more linear fashion, because I'm not entirely prepared for every region and I'm worried I'll end up like the man in that story about the Samaritan where I'm on a road I should not be on and set upon by men of ill intent.
here's an idea: rinse the hell out of the starting town (lookout landing) then go to where it tells you to go first (the wind area) because that's where a lot of sidequests start! after that go wild.
Are you saying I’m not reading the posts? Are you suggesting I’m slacking? You just did a racism against my whole country (Austria) and heritage (Hungary) (sorry :’()
Anyway, it's dawning on me what I really want is a good solid map on the internet of where things are. Half the reason I was able to sit back and enjoy Elden Ring is because I didn't need to stress about where everything was, because I had a good interactive map with a checklist. And then I cleaned out areas bit by bit. But Zelda might be too fresh for me to get that, as everyone's still trying to figure everything out. It's vexing. I mean, fortunately, unlike Elden Ring, I know I don't have to worry about missing out on any particular side quests or events if I go too far in any one direction, but it's still overwhelming to not have a clear indication of where to go at any given time.
this has helped me so many times. I killed the pirates on their ships by just camping and launching homing arrows lol
That's kind of counterintuitive to the point of the game though. It's not my place to tell someone how to enjoy a game, but the game is designed with stumbling across things and exploration in mind. You're supposed to accidentally run into a Gleeok and get destroyed by it and then come back later when you have better weapons and more hearts, not check it off a list that you found on the internet.
I work for a living (not saying you don't, just saying I only have so much free time) and I don't have the time or patience to be fumbling around for months on one game. That isn't fun to me. So I guess what I'm saying is I'm glad you're not telling me how to enjoy myself.
I dunno, it feels much more linear than BOTW to me, in that it directs you in what order to tackle the temples
I actually still haven’t reached my first temple, haha. I’m still just doing shrines and towers. Maybe the urgency and direction picks up once you start the temples but it really gives you the freedom to do that at your own will.
The game really is designed to be like the old days when you went to school and your classmates told you all the things they uncovered and vice versa. This thread is a great resource for tips and strategies to play this game. It's also OK to google things. People talk about Zelda being a very solitary experience but it's actually totally the opposite imo
It is to me but by choice. For me the discovery is the game. I wanna see all the weird shit first hand without any warning. That’s why this is the only game where I am sensitive about spoilers, but y‘all been good so…
Get the fuck out of here. I mean come on. Homeboy is a DMC5 content creator apparently but still. Chill
Once you learn lynel move patterns they’re very easy to dodge and flurry rush. Any time you’re only fighting one enemy and simply need to predict their attacks is easier than a mob of enemies all trying to hit you at once if anything I watch that video and see the guy wasting tons of resources on it, when really he could just shoot its head a bunch and get on its back to not waste weapon durability
The sage activation mechanic is probably the worst part of the game. The champion abilities in BOTW were so seamless, they were just enhancements of already-existing abilities. Now I have to be physically close to a chaotically moving around NPC, and differentiate them between a bunch of others that all look the same and can get within a millimeter of each other? In the middle of a group battle? Awful
I only have the sage of water with me right now, but I can see myself wanting to deactivate them if it gets to be too much of a distraction having multiple supports following me around everywhere.
