I really want to play this but I bounced off HARD with the weapon breaking system in BotW. Made everything overly frustrating

I got off work and went to target and picked up a copy. Will take my other copy back when it comes in. I just had to have it.

You can sort of “repair” them once by fusing but if that irritated you this is just more of the same.

Totally fair! I would probably play handheld a lot more if I had an OLED but my eyes can't stand the display on the OG switch

Did you get very far? I definitely agree it's frustrating early-game but I feel like it gets a lot more generous as you progress

Pro-tip: if a dungeon has random planks of wood lying about, it is telling you to merge them to make a floating (air) platform. Only took me like 30min in one dungeon to figure that one out

the weapon breaking thing is virtually a non existent issue once youre able to start stockpiling guardian swords from modest test shrines

I can’t help but cling onto any weapon with over 10 strength at this point

Plus if youre ballsy enough to enter the castle for weapons, you're totally set for the game and can constantly go back after some blood moons

My response to people who complain about the weapon breaking system is always “Wtf are you even doing?”. It’s so easy to get a nice stash of good weapons. My main gripe with BOTW was I couldn’t store more weapons at my house. The weapon breaking didn’t bother me one bit! I would just blame myself for being an idiot if my shit broke.

Picked up my preorder after work but won’t be able to play until tomorrow afternoon…I have to work a few hours two weekends a year because the warehouse insists on having an IT person around for inventory in case they need help hitting the back button on the handhelds or something, idk, and one of those weekends happens to be tomorrow which is super annoying

You can’t repair weapons right? I think that would help. Like the weapon “breaks” and is unusable but you can still repair it if you have something you really like. But then I’m also the type of gamer that will stockpile potions and buffs and just never use them as I’m always waiting for the right time.
That said I’ll probably pick it up and an oled switch for my flight home

It took me a long while to get used to weapon durability but I truly could not imagine this game removing that function. It's such a vital part of the entire experience.

Yea, the weapon breaking was pretty easy to get used to and I was constantly having too many and have to toss good weapons for space. I did see in this that rather than having to close a chest when you inventory is full, you can actually select what to drop without closing the chest.
