Friday plan is set. I’m going to go out for my morning run and stop at target halfway. Hopefully get the fanny pack, put it on, and put the game in it to continue the run.
Confirmed with coworker yesterday that he took Friday off to play it all day lol. Straight up admitted he'd have a hard time focusing when it's so easy to just sit there at his desk and play the Switch (we all work virtually). I told him I get it, my Switch is on my desk lol
Actually the more I think about it, the more I realize that I'm not like, super duper excited for this game. Don't get me wrong, I fkin love me some Zelda. I played the shit out of BotW and will buy this day 1 and also play the shit out of it and lose sleep just like I did the last one, but it doesn't top the list of games I've been waiting years/counting down the days for. Like, I didn't get a Switch until 2018 and I didn't play BotW until 2019 when I borrowed it from a friend. I put my 60+ hours into it and was obsessed - it was my first ever open world game - but then I gave it back and haven't played a second of it in 4 years. I often think about it, and it was a defining moment in my gaming experience. But I'll pick this one up with no immediate sense of familiarity, and will take some time getting used to it. But then none of this will probably matter because I'll get obsessed within the first hour and will start to neglect my family because of it lol
I’m having the opposite experience. I haven’t been this excited for a game since, like, Pokemon Platinum. (And I was 10 when that came out, so it’s been a minute haha)
i fell off with BOTW, and as a result Im hoping the gameplay loop will be completely fresh for me going into TOTK because I hear they addressed alot of peoples complaints with the former.
not enough dungeon crawling. samey shrines and enemies. not enough interesting npc stuff. sidelined story. its ok for games to be departures for their series. and botw is clearly a great game. but i still wanted what i wanted.
i edited my post for more detail. i think thats the usual stuff i see on resetera. that and the durability on the weapons. what have you seen?
as in what people complain about? mostly it's just more or less thiny veiled whining about weapon degradation. or do you mean what I have seen of the game? I mean I put like 6+ hours into it and so far it's BOTW + the stuff you mentioned mostly ironed out + still aggressive weapon degradation
i moved over to digital during covid because i couldn’t rely on games getting to me on release date. since then, i’ve grown to love it — being able to play the second it drops, and mostly, being able to redownload the game a year later when i have an itch to play it, rather than before when i would trade in every game after i beat it/abandoned it. i bought so many games multiple times for that reason and now i always have them. however, i do make exceptions for the goats. if there’s a game i absolutely adore and might be one of my favorites of all time, i’ll buy a physical copy just for preservation/collection reasons. i also buy every pokemon game physical just because.
with that being said, i have totk preordered digitally so i can play asap. but if i end up loving it as much as i do botw (which is my favorite game of all time) then i’ll buy a physical copy later on during a sale or something (lol)
My main hope for this game is that it has more story than takes place during the actual game and not just flashbacks like BOTW
do you guys want me to answer these questions? steve: compared to BotW this is a big story driven blockbuster lol
My excitement for this game is the same as BOTW as in Idk what to expect. I’ve seen only the videos Nintendo has shown which isn’t a lot. I just want know about the game as I play it
