I think they said they were going to continue on in this style but it's not part of the BOTW/TOTK era anymore
a second string of 2d zelda games the way mario is split between the two game types would be fun it feels ridiculous to imply the team behind super mario bros wonder is a second string team but you know what i mean
I would love if we got a new one every other year or something like that. But one is a big 3d open world one and the other is a 2d world that’s on a smaller scale.
I definitely liked botw more. Totk just felt like they threw a bunch of shit at the wall to see what sticks. Idk, it's hard to describe, but I easily put more than double the amount of hours in botw. I still never beat totk I think building stuff in totk was kind of a gimmick and I'm nowhere near creative enough for it. Also preferred the abilities in botw and bomb launching all over the map after beating it the first time
I don't know if I can agree with the gimmick comment. I'm dumb as shit with building but "gimmick" implies a level of unimportance to me, and building is very much baked into everything in the game.
frankly i think one of the best things about totk is that you dont have to be all that creative to engage with its systems but the ceiling is endless on that stuff if you wanna push it
I got less out of TOTK than BOTW because I knew the BOTW map like the back of my hand from playing it so much, and while they obviously did everything they could to change so much around, it being the same fundamental map just made it feel like simply a remix of BOTW. Also the Zonai devices are such a huge part of the game but I never found that much interest in them past the initial novelty I do think the story is much better than BOTW, though both would benefit from way more narrative elements, cutscenes, etc. I loved that Age of Calamity game simply because it gave so much more screen time to all the characters
I think I'm getting pretty close to the end of the game now found the fifth sage and got tasked with finding the Master Sword but I haven't done any of the Dragons Tears since the first one that you do. Would I lose anything if I just watch all of those cutscenes on Youtube? I do really wanna see the story but I also am getting pretty serious burnout from this game and want to finish it soon and that quest seems very tedious
If you do decide to track them down, there's an area where you can see their locations within Hyrule, as well as what order to find them in to view the cutscenes chronologically. For the life of me, I don't know why Nintendo didn't just play the cutscenes in order no matter which Dragon Tear you've found, but each cutscene is associated with a specific Tear, so you can wind up viewing elements of the story prematurely.
Lol but if I already don't particularly have that I won't? Like, it's not required to beat the game right? Yeah I think I did find a random one at one point and it made zero sense out of context but I just saw the super cool cutscene with Ganondorf after getting the fifth sage and that whole sequence made things make a lot more sense I think I am just gonna watch all of these on Youtube (assuming I don't NEED to do them)
Your pride isn't required to beat the game, but it's pretty important in general. Feel good about your achievements.
Just like with the memories from BOTW, they really should have just made all the flashback cutscenes play in chronological order regardless of the order in which you find them. It really ruins the narrative of them when you stumble upon the big climactic one and realize what's going on
Yeah, I think the game affords you the flexibility not to find them before tracking down Ganondorf. Not sure what impact that will have on NPC interactions, but I don't think it will restrict you from pressing to the finale.
You don’t have to do them. Unless you want the master sword.* * if you don’t get the master sword before you fight Ganondorf, you get it during the final phase of that fight.
You don't even have to do them to get the Master Sword if you've reached a certain point and know what you're looking for.
Well for one thing, if you complete the Deku Tree quest, the sword location gets marked on your map, but even beyond that you can actually reach the Light Dragon without doing anything if you fly high enough and find it.
Gotcha. I have never initiated the deku tree way before doing all the tears in my 3 play throughs. But that does sound right from what I’ve read before.
Yeah after I did finished the Spirit Temple I got a quest to find the Master Sword by finding the Deku Tree first. I don't think it has anything to do with finding the tears
