Lynels are tough SOB’s. Once you learn their move set, it’s not that bad. But until you get comfortable with them, they can be nerve wracking.

But also, if you don't care about gathering up all of their powerful items (bow, horns, etc.) that they drop when you defeat them but you really need them gone, just pop them with an Ancient Blade and they'll be vaporized in one shot. haha.

some in here may frown on it but i have 0 problems with duping so, once i got the white maned lynel horn from Koltin, i duped a ton of them for weapons fusing so i dont really seek out lynels for the sake of farming materials lol

But their weapons are the best part. Well, their bows at least. And their horns make for great weapons. Plus you’ll need their drops for armor upgrades.

To me it’s less frowned upon and more that I feel like you’re skipping part of the game. Which isn’t a bad thing. I just think ignoring part of the game is odd. But hey, this game is all about doing whatever you want. So, people should do what they want.

This is why I avoided it for the most part, but I had to resort to using them in the Lynel colosseum when you have to fight like seven in a row. When I got to the last one, I didn't have enough resources (thanks to the gloom effect) so I needed him gone lol.

The game saved on the second to last Lynel where I had no ancient arrows or gloom curing food and most of hearts gone. I had to beat the last two without getting hit basically it was a pain

    That makes sense.

You both need to do more prep haha be prepared!

  13. I finally had a free weekend where I could put some real hours into this. I've now completed 2 temples and 70 shrines and have retrieved the Master Sword. I also unlocked one of the great fairies and upgraded most of my current armor pieces since I had an abundance of resources and rupees. Before heading to the Eldin or Gerudo areas, I really need to explore the Depths some more to find more light roots and collect more zonaite. I also really want that froggy armor so I'll try to focus on that quest this week.

I've yet to fight a Lynel, Frox, or Gleeok but will attempt each of them soon. Bomb arrows did make Gloom Hands a pushover and the Phantom Ganons are surprisingly easy. Flux Constructs are a blast to fight but I have not yet beaten a level 3.

Basically the scenario I was in except I had a few Ancient Blades so I just said "fuck it" lol.

I was typically well stocked for a lot of stuff but I didn't know THAT would be what was in that particular colosseum. Most of those were a breeze until the Lynel one so it caught me by surprise.

i got the strategy guide in the mail today and it was underwhelming. for BOTW it came with a large foldable map labeling everything and was an easier guide to read/navigate. this version seems like they crammed as much info in to as little space as possible.

  16. Had a slow day at work so I snuck in a couple hours of playtime. Whipped a red lynel’s ass but got absolutely destroyed by a silver one and the fire Gleeok on the bridge southwest of Hyrule field. Finally got the final piece of the Glide armor as well. I’m going to work on getting Fierce Diety armor set today since I stumbled upon the torso piece earlier.

the only one I beat was in the coliseum on the west side of hurdle field. I repeatedly ascended to the highest level, glided down so I could slow-mo shoot arrows at each head, and then once I knocked him out I would attack before repeating the process.

it was time consuming, tedious, and used up way more resources than it was worth. I hope someone else chimes in with a better idea.

I'm guessing it's a lot easier once you get Riju

Obi-Wan was right. The high ground wins the fight. Even if it’s only a little higher.

All you need for gleeoks is enough height to bullet time arrows. You can z target the heads to speed up shooting all 3. You will need to be closer to be highly effective this way. Knock out all 3 heads and it’ll crash to the ground. Hit it with your strongest weapon and repeat. There is kind of a second phase that I won’t detail unless you want me to. You have to slightly change tactics. If you have good enough weapons, it’ll end after one assault in that phase.

There are a couple that don’t really have a way to get the high ground and you just have to slug it out and shoot the heads as fast as possible. The vast majority can easily be taken down as described above. Although, make sure you have enough hearts or good enough armor to withstand a hit from their elemental attack. You need to allow for yourself to make a mistake and have a chance to heal and not get killed in one hit.

If you have plenty of zonai rockets, attach them to your shields and as soon you pull out the shield, it will rocket you straight up in the air. Works perfectly to get you up into the air for those fights so you can shoot arrows.

Yea… but slugging it out for like two gleeoks was a fun challenge. And that’s a lot of rockets.

  23. Mrk_Brdshw

    Dusted Groove

Well, this is in the instances where there is nothing to jump from (like the bridge). So one rocket can still save you a bunch of arrows since your only other option is to shoot from the ground (I wasted like 100 arrows). And if you use a super strong bow or a multi-arrow bow, you can get him out of there pretty quickly.

Also, in the last "phase" of the Gleeoks, I used a rocket shield the second he started ascending to the air and stopped him from even beginning that phase of the attack lol

I'm missing just one shrine somewhere in the sky. At this point, I've never looked up the location of a shrine and I'm so close to finished it's bumming me out. I've been to all the sky islands except the circular ones with King Gleeoks.
