See, I agree that could be approved on. And what was with the training ground owns have non skippable instructions? Most things you can fly through, so I don’t view these as a problem as much as just a minor nitpick. Maybe the armor upgrade one though. At least when you are restarting a shrine or boss fight or what have you, you have some time in between those bits. With the fairies, you just stand there.

I by no means hate the game, I loved it and probably put 200 hours into it. I just don't think it's anywhere near perfect like a lot of reviews say.

Aside from the minor nitpicks, there are pretty fundamental flaws. Largely being in the same world with the same 4 kingdoms to visit. and the depths being a massive waste of potential, just a huge area that all looks the same with very little interesting stuff to explore.

    8.5/10

I disagree that being in the same Hyrule is a flaw. While I agree the depths could have been better, it’s still great. A lot has changed between games.

Just finished all shrines and I immediately noticed something about the reward that I haven’t seen discussed anywhere (but maybe I just haven’t looked hard enough):
This is the guy depicted in the BOTW scroll with the red-haired hero fighting Ganon. The guy people were arguing was Ganondorf before TOTK came out. So cool.

see I agree, I barely remember BOTW.

I feel for the people who replayed it before TOTK

I replayed BOTW for a whole month leading up to this release and have no map complaints shrug

I think it's cool to have it in the same Hyrule and be able to see what's changed and what hasn't, and also get a sense of continuity between the games. No Zelda has ever done that before.

I just wish it was a little more into the future with a rebuilt castle town instead of a bunch of tents but it's nbd

I didn't get that continuity though. I wanted to find wreckage of old guardians scattered about or explore the ruins of the divine beasts. It feels like the first game never happened

So first you're unhappy not enough is different, and now you're unhappy not enough is the same.

    You're a complicated person, Mick.

Dark Souls 3 did revisiting an old area right. Sure, it's the same map layout and area you've seen in Dark Souls 1, but you can feel the passage of time enough to make it feel new. Outside of the calamities I don't think the areas felt all that different.

Agree to disagree though, we don't need to keep harping on it.

It is very weird that at least the divine beasts are gone

Weren't the remains of the Divine Beasts used to make the Skyview Towers? I feel like I read that somewhere.

I think the continuity is strongest in the characters and the relationship Link has with them. Like, Sidon calls Link his best friend. Adorable. Haha! As for the land itself, yea, the mountains are still mountains, lake Hylia is still just lake Hylia. Rito village being snowed in was cool. Then getting to save it and see the difference. Saving the gorons from the new rock roast thing with all the mine carts and such was fun. Fighting the undead with Riju and the gerudo to wave their town ruled. I understand people maybe wanting more, but that comes down to preference and expectations and it’s hard for me to say that’s a flaw in the game.

I think some guardians were used to make towers, I don’t think the divine beasts were. Though I may have missed something somewhere. Not sure if there is official info one way or the other. Maybe just fan theories. A fan theory I heard is that they buried all that tech so they could not be used by evil again. I can kind of buy into that. A theory that just came to me though is this. The shrines in BOTW were built for one purpose, to train the hero to defeat calamity Ganon. Link did that. The sheikha tech was made for calamity Ganon, not the Demon King/Ganondorf. The Sheikha weren’t around for that. And the royal family kept details secret around the imprisoning war to the point they built Hyrule castle to cover up Ganondorf. For me, personally, after piloting the divine beasts in Age of Calamity, I didn’t really care for more of them.

Zelda's in danger and Hyrule's overrun and what have I just been doing? Helping a man's dream come true by stalking and mounting a deer.

Oh haha yes, that one. I did a bear. But I read that as like, mounting it on a plaque on a wall and was very confused hahaha

Absolutely fuck that coliseum where you have to fight 5 gloom Lynels in a row. All for a mask I realistically will never use

Anyway, I ended tonight in the Lightning Temple, which I'll continue tomorrow.

Besides shrines and side-quests galore, I killed Moldaga, found all the wells, and unless something has gone horribly wrong, I should have only one more Addison sign.

I have twenty shrines left, which will be helpful once I go lightroot hunting, a time which is quickly encroaching.

It was fun. Taking out lynels is satisfying. But you gotta be good at flurry rush, otherwise I imagine it’s painful.

I've fought Taluses, Flux Constructs, Hinoxes, Froxs, and a Gleeok, but I still have not had the courage to fight a Lynel.

I know that doesn't make sense.

Once you learn how to flurry rush them and mount them, they become pretty easy, it's just tedious because they have so much health
