I kind of liked having to figure out the best way to get each part to her.

Just finished the shrine "Hidden Metal". I was stuck on what to do for the last bit until I thought about the meaning of the name and discovered what they expected me to do. I love little riddles like that. It feels good when I figure it out.

It took a little getting used to, for sure. Boss battle was a bit janky for me, but not too bad.

Exploring the Gerudo Highlands before I continue into the desert, and I decided to do something dumb. I decided to fight a Gleeok. Frost, to be exact.

I won, but at the cost of a lot of arrows, a lot of food, and a lot of time. It was a fun fight though. In the final phase, I used Recall on the icicles he called down on me so I could get up to his level and shoot him.

I think I need better weapons and more stamina for sure before I take on another. And I need to restock my food supply. It was worth it for the experience though. Happy that I won.

Nice! Something fun about that first gleeok kill. Mine was a fire one.

Does anyone know what triggers the Yiga to start appearing on the surface randomly? It only started around 300 hours, so I really don’t know what I did to trigger it. I’m not talking about the banana “trap.” It’s just a Yiga member appearing out of nowhere. It didn’t happen for so long. What did I do?

As a general update, I’m still obsessed. I’ve killed all gleeoks, molduga, frox, lynels, and flux. Slowly chipping away at talus and Hinox. I have around 570 korok. For anyone curious, your inventory gets maxed out at 421. Working on upgrading my armor all the way slowly, not focusing on it, just upgrading what I can after going around collecting things.

Oh, also chipping away at gloom hands (I’ll never call it gloom spawn). The Tears Companion app appears to list the same one multiples times though. So, not going to be super confident on if I get them all or not.

To follow up on a conversation a while back I love the sky islands and think they’re a ton of fun to explore. Plus I dig the crystal shrine quests up there

Jumping back into this after spending time with FF16. Did the second band/fairy quest and I’ve done 4-5 of the Gazette quests. Gonna explore some of the depths, specifically the old maps I’ve unlocked and haven’t checked out. Then off to the second temple lol. I’m like 100 hours in and barley touched them.

I definitely undervalued the sky for a good bit. But I loved the diving contests, especially the armor you win. That’s my favorite armor, especially when you upgrade it twice. I’ll have to get it much earlier in my next play through. When my remaining shrines were in the sky, it was fun flying around looking for the shrines and running into flux fights and such.

Yea, it’s great. You glide forward so much faster when you’re falling from up high. The upgrade bonus is cool.

Finally beat the game. The ending was pretty epic. Overall I loved the game, but don't find it nearly as "perfect" as a lot of people and reviewers say. A lot of complaints are easily QoL fixes to reduce some tedium, the sages being pretty horribly utilized, a million side quests for little reward.

My biggest issue is how "samey" it all is. For a game that places so much emphasis on exploration, we have the same world to explore that we already thoroughly explored in BotW, with some new sky islands and the depths. The depths had potential to get really weird, but the entirety of it looks the same with the same overworld enemies reskinned.

If we get a third installment in this story, I really hope they switch up the setting. Take us to the oceans, take us to space, just don't make me explore the same slightly altered Hyrule.

Yeah I mean in retrospect the game has a lot of problems, arguably more than botw, but that honeymoon period was real nice so it’s still a 10.

Very productive morning in the depths.

Unlocked a bunch of light roots, took out a gloom Lynel, and cleared a stronghold securing some schematics. Game is goat

It’s not perfect. But it’s incredible. I have some quibbles. But overall it’s much better than BOTW.

I don’t know how to respond to generic QoL issues with no examples given. Minus Sidon, I like the sages and use them when I want to and don’t when I want to fight solo. Zelda has always had a ton of side quests with little no substantial reward. I think while most are fetch questy, they do a good job of having the story aspect be entertaining. I think the fighting with the army and clearing out the pirates in Lurelin were fun. I think the surface had enough differences made that it doesn’t bother me at all it’s the same map. I would agree that the depths could have had more differences in between areas and a couple more unique mini bosses or at least drastically alter surface ones.

I don’t see how they could do a third in this map. I could see them doing one that starts there (but only a small portion) and then you travel to a land nearby outside of Hyrule. Sidon’s wife came from a different tribe of Zoras. Where are they? We can literally see land beyond Hyrule. What if the next game is set there? Personally, I think these two games are fantastic and can stand alone as an era of Zelda. I would want the next game to be a different design, new map, new characters. The same old Ganon rises and Zelda/Link take him out, but let everything else change.

I don’t see how this has more problems than BOTW. This fixed a ton of issues with that and adds on a ton more. I don’t have to spend 30 minutes trying to hit a Boulder up a hill, past a lynel, to put it in a hole, to get one korok. Or to get a rock on the roof of the treasure chest game place in Lurelin. TOTK is much better haha IMO

I want to see what people aren’t liking. But vaguely saying the games has lots of problems with no examples is kind of pointless.

I do think not having any underwater content was a huge miss.

in regards to QoL stuff, it's largely just tedious prompts that you have to constantly skip through. When completing a shrine you have to skip two cutscenes and item description even though it's identical to the 80 shrines I did before that. Upgrading armor one piece at a time with a cutscene and item prompt you have to skip every time. A lot of stuff could be streamlined
