I think Skyward Sword has one of the best stories in a Zelda game. I still prefer WW and TP over it though simply because of the controls and it’s reliance on backtracking to previous areas so much.
the main bad thing about Skyward Sword were the janky controls, the remaster was well received. also MM rules and is 100% right up there alongside OoT.
Yeah!!! Why sould the guy with the SEGA mascot avatar lie to you about Nintendo games??? oh he's a MOD too? that's sus!
on a related note, the Get Played podcast is doing a whole Zelda theme month and the first ep of it was doing a tier list of Zelda games, very enjoyable listen: The Legend of Zelda: A Pod to the Cast: Tiers of the Kingdom with Mike Mitchell - Get Played
Twilight Princess is far superior. It’s bad. It does improve the controls so they are mostly tolerable. And yea, you can knock it out in a week. I think mine was around 40 hours? Motion controls are terrible. Being able to turn them off on the Switch was a life saver. There are a couple things that are alright with Motion, but doing motion alone is rough. I like Windwaker, but I found the dungeons in TP far more intriguing.
Majora's Mask is one of the coolest games ever. The locations, art design, music and general vibe are all wonderful.
yeah the whole thing is so creative and well designed. Yeah, that makes it even more crazy considering how long these things usually take. I was hoping for TOTK to be a similarly quick sequel haha.
A lot of us at work are being let off early next Friday for the release. They did it with Elden Ring too. Just feels like a big deal
yeah obviously, I just mean considering how fantastic that game was for how quickly it was made and this being a similar situation at the time I thought this might be a quick turnaround too.
Comparing all the townspeoples’ different priorities and behaviors amid a collective impending doom makes for an incredibly deep and beautiful character study. Despite (and maybe because of) the bubble its set in, MM’s level of detail given to each and every npc arc, the exchange of nuance dependent on actions / weather changes / etc during each 3-day-cycle—it’s not only a technical achievement but also a masterful display of care and appreciation for the world they created. When I was younger it also sort of blew my mind in its approach to alternate timelines and the ripple (“butterfly”) effect of every action, and the brevity of every moment. I get how it might not be for everyone, but to me that game is a work of art.
My Switch preloaded TOTK while I was at work today and now this shit is gonna be mocking me from the homescreen for the next week edit: realizing someone else said exactly this in the Nintendo thread lol
