i just bought a shield from the ancient armor dude and just randomly got through the castle, used an ancient arrow on a lynel, got to ganon, healed a lot, easy. wish i had explored more knowing that there was nothing after
ive found that to usually be the case with these games, but i at least enjoyed the second half of the battle on horseback, it was slightly more challenging.
Nothing after? Maybe still dozen so of shrines? Hundreds of koroks? Plenty of exploration? I’ve got almost 200 hours in this game, and maybe 120 since beating Ganon. If you want to stay immersed in hyrule, there’s plenty of reason to do so. But yes, boss fights are not the strength of this game...
It's funny, I didn't really have a problem with Ganon or the dungeons. Turning the focus to exploration was good in my book, and every time I got to a divine beast I found myself more excited to get out of it and get back to exploring the map. And by the time I got to Ganon, I didn't really need a struggle of a fight to feel accomplished in beating the game. The story on the other hand was definitely a let down. I can forgive the mediocre voice acting, but I wish there was a greater focus on the story for sure. The first time you meet Impa and the stuff you stumble upon combing through the castle stand out a lot. Things I'd like to see in a sequel: -More story -Make the sidequests more like Majora's Mask with a heavy emphasis on interesting side characters -Some weapon/item related progression. I definitely missed the excitement of finally getting the hookshot and suddenly being able to go new places in the game. There's gotta be a happy medium where you can have a huge and open explorable world but still leave some of it locked until you get specific tools. It makes the dungeons feel more impactful when they're hiding something you need for exploring. -I wouldn't mind variety in the dungeons, but I did think their brevity was a feature not a bug.
I think looking back I prefer Ocarina but if you told me you liked Majora more I wouldn't think you were nuts. It's a great game, one that I'd really love a way to return to soon. I'd love a remastered version for the Switch the way they did Ocarina for 3DS. I don't know if that'll happen though.
Ocarina changed video games forever. I just like the weirdness of Majora. I hope Switch gets an actual BOTW sequel.
We might have to wait a few years but I don’t think there’s any doubt that we will. They hit 10 million sales already, Nintendo has no choice but to give this console a full and well-supported lifecycle. Another Zelda game is a big part of that.
question regarding DLC2 - any idea how come in some cutscenes they do the voice acting (revali) but in others they don't (urbosa and mipha)? has anyone else noticed this?
these games meaning Zelda games? They've had incredible final battles in the past, Wind Waker in particular is one of my all time favourite bosses but I think all of the 3D Zelda games except BOTW have really good endgames/final bosses.
Not sure if you came across it but there’s an interview that says at one point in the game the hookshot was actually introduced. I think it was like 2 hookshots ala spiderman (but maybe I was just projecting and it was actually just 1). A lot of the devs really loved it but they said it broke the game and made climbing useless
Has anyone else finished the DLC2 yet? I was wondering if there’s any point in fighting Ganon again now that I’ve completed it?
Also, I'm unimpressed with the Master Cycle Zero. It's pretty clunky and doesn't feel very precise so it was hard to steer across places like the suspension bridges outside of Gerudo Canyon. I can see it being useful for when you teleport to the closest shrine and your target location is still a ways off, but that's about it. It definitely would have been more useful earlier in the game when I was still exploring new regions.
It was definitely tedious trying to find the locations for everything, but it felt good to get orbs again
I got this about two weeks ago and I'm slowly making my way through it. I've done a little over 20 shrines and 8 towers so far. I just freed my first divine beast too, it wasn't too bad at all. The most annoying to me so far was when you're taking the path to Zora's Domain and Sidon just following you along the time lol.
