Holy shit, what a pain in the ass the Divine Beast in the desert was. Both the taming of the beast and then the dungeon itself. God am I glad that's over with.

 

Rode an elk today. Felt majestic as fuck.

 

Just found climbing boots (rain resistant!). Part of the 3 Cedars Shrine Quest that you receive in Hateno. It's at Lanyru Mountain.

 

Beat the two beasts that I believe were the easiest (Zora's and Rito's). Should I go for Gerudo or Goron next? (Also do you get a heat resistant attire to climb Death Mountain?)

 

Up to 80 shrines. It's odd how the number of seeds I have is almost exactly the same as the number of shrines.

 

Goron village has the heat armor. The stuff you get from the Gerudos won't really help on the mountain.

 

Seconding Goron.

Gerudo is also the toughest so it would make more sense to do it last.

 

Also think I filled in the entire map, except for one little area right above Gerudo.

Beat Ganon last night. I think I want to do a more detailed write up of my thoughts about the game but it's easily one of my favorite games in recent memory and a top tier addition to the franchise. I haven't been this fully absorbed into a game's world in a long time (The Witcher 3 is the only thing that comes close) and it's a smart combination of western open world games and Zelda tropes. I will absolutely be going back in to catch the 20 or so shrines I missed and I'm pretty happy there's already more new content to look forward to with DLC announced.

 

Can anyone give me just a general idea of the story, like a logline? Where does this fit in with the others? Just need something to hold me over until June.

 

Link wakes up after being frozen for 100 years. Do a bunch of missions, go to the castle to fight Ganon, (assume) you find Zelda. End.

 

As far as I can tell, it seems to take place years after Twilight Princess

 

It seems farther in the timeline than any other game to me.

 

The lack of a real engaging narrative in this game kinda feels like a bummer.

 

I'm not too far in. But what's the deal with the random sub boss and red moon thing? I was fighting it. Got about half way through and he went underground haha.

 

The blood moon revives all creatures, not sure why he went underground.

 

What happens when you defeat it?

It's a massive open world game, but, sadly, you can't defeat the moon.

 

That'll be in the next saints row game

 

Our oceans will stop moving.

 

One of the few problems I have with it.
