My mom is the best. I've been too busy to keep a close eye on Switch availability, so she has a bunch of online stores notifying her when it's available so she can have one delivered to my house. I'm 23 and because I have a lifelong love affair with Zelda dating back to when Ocarina of Time released when I was 5, she understands my excitement for a new Zelda game and can't stand to see me not be able to play it. It's like I'm a little kid again. Then I get home tonight after a tough day and see a suspicious looking package and it turns out she already ordered me Breath of the Wild two days ago. Just opening up a new Zelda game with this much excitement takes me back. Man, I love my mom. Now if only I had a console to play it on...
Today I'm getting the last couple of memories and upgrading my champions tunic. Hopefully I'll finish the game either later today or tomorrow.
i thought the yiga clan were gonna be really dope but then you find out they get distracted by bananas and their leader is a fat dumbass
It's an easy 10 for me. Which would make it my fourth 10/10 Zelda, ha. There's just so much goodness here and considering how much I don't usually like open world games, it's an incredible achievement to make me so excited to constantly explore in a game like this. Ranking it against other Zelda games is a bit harder. It's definitely not my favourite game ever like I thought it might be based on the trailers, ha. There's a number of things I'd change if I was in charge of the next Zelda game and as much as I love a lot of the changes they made I still miss a lot of the old Zelda tropes. I think I still like Ocarina more but I'm not sure where it fits among Majora's and Windwaker. I find it super hard to compare since they're so different and obviously this is better than those in a lot of ways but I also think it falls short in some aspects compared to those two. At the moment it's hovering around those two, not sure where it will end up though.
For me right now (done 1 Divine Beast, gotten the Master Sword, but otherwise have just been exploring and doing shrines) I could see this ultimately winding up being my favorite Zelda ever. I adore this series, but this one is just on a whole other level from the others. The only ones that it could run up against and fall short of would probably be Ocarina and Wind Waker.
Actually... Ranking (Pre-finishing Breath of the Wild) 1. The Wind Waker 2. Ocarina of Time 3. Majora's Mask 4. Twilight Princess 5. A Link to the Past 6. A Link Between Worlds 7. Skyward Sword 8. The Minish Cap 9. Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons 10. Link's Awakening 11. Spirit Tracks 12. Phantom Hourglass 13. The Legend of Zelda 14. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Finally stopped dilly-dallying and got to Zora's Domain and the first divine beast boss fight/dungeon last night....nothing short of exhilerating. The design of Zora's Domain is jaw-dropping.
Yeah.. how many hours have you put into the game to already be close to finished? Kinda worries me because I thought this would be a game I could play for months on end.
1. Ocarina of Time 2. Breath of the Wild 3. Majora's Mask 4. The Wind Waker 5. Twilight Princess 6. Skyward Sword 7. A Link Between Worlds 8. A Link to the Past 9. The Minish Cap 10. The Legend of Zelda 11. Phantom Hourglass 12. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link I think that's how I'd put them right now. Still haven't played Ages/Seasons and I'm making my way through Awakening. Probably won't bother with Spirit Tracks.
34 shrines and one dungeon finished so far. I really want to take my time with this game, I don't want to be finished until April at the earliest.
Link's Awakening is the only one I've ever played (Gameboy the only nintendo system I had!) but I have such strong memories of it. Never even got close to completing it though
Im at 68 shrines and just got to Gerudo Town before i went to bed. Idk if I'm gonna go straight to Ganon after i beat this area or not.
The side quests are so fun. The other day I spent like 20 minutes following a bottled love letter a Zora girl threw to the sea, and it didn't even feel like a waste of time. Not having a lot of games on Switch launch ended up working well for me since I don't really feel any pressure to finish the game soon. I keep finding new stuff to appreciate. Probably going to by my favorite LoZ.
I wasn't sure either but I decided to just because I have so many other games waiting to be played and I know I won't touch them until Zelda's finished. Nier just came today, I'm like 2 hours into Horizon and I've barely touched Resident Evil VII. Plus Persona and Mass Effect are less than a month away. I'm going to focus on other stuff now and just come back to Zelda whenever I fancy it, just hop in and explore every now and then.
