when they're aiming at you, get them in the eye with an arrow then attack while they're stunned, target the legs, repeat. Also helps not fighting them in big open fields/having something to hide behind in case you're too late to get an arrow off
Feels kind of like The Witness, in a way, because certain areas of the map have way more difficult shrines than others.
Afaik it's just so you know the last place you were in. There's a Goron in southern mine named Greyson. It's not anything special but the fact that they decided to make the -son thing an actual quest made me chuckle. The little charming things this game does that adds more to it.
Yep. Thought that dungeon was way easier than the first. The boss fight more than made up for it though. Took me a good 15-20 minutes to figure out how to beat his 2nd wave attack.
oh for sure, I'm glad they scale up a bit with the game, if they were all the same level as the shrines in the first couple of areas I think they would start to feel a lot more tedious
This is probably already my favorite Zelda game. I'm glad I'm old enough to appreciate it because I'm sure if I played it for the first time when I was younger I would have given up easily.
Yeah definitely. It's kind of jarring, though, in a funny/not bad way, to go exploring in one area and have crazy hard shrines and then go to another area and have it be ridiculously easy. Just the nature of the game, though.
Oh man, I wish I had been able to play this when I was younger (high school/college). I had way more time back then lol
speaking of the guardians, the feeling of defeat when one just blows you out of the sky while you're paragliding is like none other
Closing the paraglider at the exact right moment to avoid the blast and then reopening it to continue gliding is pretty damn satisfying though.
Landing on horses and performing attacks from above with the paraglider are some of my favorite things
yeah I didn't realize until that zora guardian fight that time slows when you shoot an arrow from the glider, one of my favorite opening attacks now
Uhhh surfing on your shield and shooting arrows is probably the greatest thing I have ever experienced in a game. So fun.
Oh, yeah for sure. I mean, I was almost 12.5 when The Wind Waker came out and I was really blown away/overwhelmed by the scale of it. I can't imagine what 10-12 year old me would have made of this game. Plus it's goddamn hard, which I wasn't expecting. I've died more times in this one already than in the last few games combined.
Have your shield out (with L), jump (with X), and then press A while in the air. If you do it while running down an incline you'll surf a good bit, it's great.
This was really awesome and I'm loving how much of this sort of thing you just encounter in the open world. Most of the Shrine Quests I've done have been pretty fun. Related to this particular one, I find myself running out of arrows when I need them A LOT. Any secret to keeping up an arrow inventory?
I just use them as sparingly as possible. Also every time I see an archer enemy I kill it without allowing it to fire any arrows at me whenever possible. That way they usually drop a bundle of arrows on the ground for you. It's tough, though, because arrows are so generally useful and also are used for so many specific things in the game. I really wish there was a way to craft them with materials. Don't know why they didn't make it so that wood + some kind of stone or metal couldn't be combined somehow to make more arrows.
