Is there like a compass you can get in this game that lets me know which direction I'm traveling? Instead of constantly checking back and forth on the map?
I mean the minimap has a North arrow so you can base your direction off that. You could also use the custom waypoints
There's also an option in the option menu to lock the minimap (so north is always north, etc) instead of it rotating around as you move.
haha i felt the same way. i used up almost all the food i had with me when i finally beat them and then got wrecked by the guardian in the shrine. finally beat that shrine then glided down to the shrine on the island and immediately left when i saw there were two guardians in there.
Omg. Before I started the game, I put the HUD on pro so I had no idea there was a mini map down in the corner. Wow. This changes everything.
So to get those arrows before hitting up the first Beast, I completely avoided the Lynal and stealthed my way around collecting them.
I also snuck my way around, i dont think your ready to fight him at this point. They exaggerate needing 20 arrows though, you use like 6 lol
This game is absolutely addicting. I can get sidetracked and not do shit but kill animals and collect mushrooms and enjoy myself for hours. I should probably focus on the quest more, but all the survival and collecting shit is just soooo much fun.
It's perhaps the new game hype still getting to me but this really is the perfect adventure game. The world is gorgeous, expansive, varied and exciting, despite the fact it's not exactly heavily populated it still feels alive. The encouragement to explore on your own and lack of hand holding is so unlike recent Nintendo (3D Zelda in particular, I'm looking at you, TP and SS) but it gives the sense of a grand adventure on a scale unlike any other Zelda games. I expected to really like this game, I didn't expect to be so completely enthralled to the point where it's just about all I can think about.
I'm at the point with it where it's got the possibility to shake up my top 3 Zelda games. It's not instantly my favourite Zelda game like I've seen a lot of people saying but it's possible. Honestly it still hasn't hit the highs of my favourite moments from Ocarina, Majora's or Wind Waker but the sense of scale and openness gives this game a big boost. I don't quite feel as attached to the story or characters though which is a bit disappointing.
Story time regarding the (shrine name is in first spoiler, description of shrine is in second one so check the first one first to make sure you solved it or skip it all if you don't wanna know anything about shrines) (shrine name) Daka Tuss Shrine (spoils shrine description/solution) First off, I miss the fact that the level is called "Sunken Scoop". I noticed the scoop in the bottom of the first pool, but somehow also miss that its magnetic. After some experimenting, I realize I can put a ball on the little edge on the wall opposite where the basket is, and use a bomb to launch it across the room into the basket. My three point shot is good, and I proceed to the next room wondering if that is really what i was supposed to do, or if I really needed another power to get through the room and just found a creative side solution. I then proceed to spend over half an hour trying to replicate the solution in the second room. I don't notice there is a ceiling on the second basket, and all my attempts bounce too fast off the wall. I try and use the bombs to splash them in from the water, which seems like it might have slightly better odds of working but I still can't get it right. Convinced that I'm supposed to have another power to do this level (maybe some sort of lead boots so I can step on that switch down there...) and while I cleverly got past the first room its not worth trying to get past the second anymore, I leave, but first stop to see if I can use the magnet power to pick up the hammer I accidentally threw into the first pool. Five minutes later I've solved the puzzle the intended way and am left face palming over my own stupdity =D I love this game
The best place is on death mountain unfortunately. If you have at least one fire elixir you can make it to the southern mine, where there are tons of them and a guy who will trade 10 of them for fire armor.
I actually came in here this morning just to say "Fuck the Lynel" haha. You can kill the Lynel though, I did it last night. Strategy: So basically you can stagger him and get him to collapse for a few seconds by shooting him in the face with arrows. I had a lot of success with elemental arrows, specifically ice and fire. I assume bomb arrows will work as well once it isn't raining anymore. I didn't try to lightning arrows because I didn't want to waste any for the quest. You have to like be very precise with the shot though, like it has to to be a direct hit to the center of his face or it won't collapse him. Once he's collapsed, you can run up to him and press A to jump on his back and then you can lay into him with your most powerful melee weapon until he bucks you off. Then just shoot him again and repeat. Basically what I did was hug one of the huge boulders in the ground up there and used it as cover for his charge attacks, then shot him whenever I had an opening. Just keep running in circles around the boulder and baiting him into charging you and missing. Also don't get too far away or he'll shoot lightning arrows and you deff don't want that. I basically had to cheese the fight, Dark Souls-style. Honestly the difficulty of the encounter and the satisfaction after finishing it felt like a very Souls-esque moment. You get his sword and shield, plus so crafting resources, when you kill him.
Just beat Ruta. I think instead of just jumping from divine beast to divine beast i'm going to explore a ton between. I spent an insane amount of time in the desert yesterday, haven't seen to many people talk about that area.
