This Trading Places reference is going to thrill me and break my heart every time. I literally said that the night before I heard it here, it’s such a useful call and response.
If anything happens to the main characters I’m going to fight each and every one of you. Laurie working to get people out of the cult is the most satisfying thing ever.
I definitely jinxed them with that post. Poor Tommy. Liv Tyler is the worst. I had a bad feeling about that woman from the start too. They need so much more support than what they were giving them. Tommy being Wayne 2.0 is problematic.
Finally getting to a lot of the reworked versions of songs and I loooooove it. And ghost/hallucination/definitely real Ann Dowd is my favorite and a treasure.
This episode I get is doing some really deep commentary but Matt is John Lockeing it harder than ever and I’m about to die of anger and annoyance at literally everything. Like I’m supposed to believe they don’t have actual records of who lives there and they can’t get the reverend on the phone and they aren’t concerned about people being robbed for wristbands at all?? And now I have to worry about Matt being a rapist?? This is by far my least favorite episode of the series.
Ooooooh this is some Kevin Finnerty Magical Mystery Tour shenanigans. I know this episode is super praised, but I have no idea what to expect.
I had no idea that episode was so polarizing but of course it was. Happy to see that my Sopranos/Shining/Lynch vibes were talked about at the time. Overall I don’t know if it’s my favorite so far, but the end definitely got me. Their handling of guilt/depression/self-loathing/suicide is often much more rewarding than their straight up religious/supernatural elements. Really not into the tropes surrounding Virgil and I hope they do something to redeem his portrayal later. Also not into just having a straight up villain now. The grey areas are much more compelling.
I really enjoyed the finale...thought it was a good explosion (rimshot) of action and emotion that had been building up all season
Yeah these last like 25 minutes have been great but I have a lot of issues with the first half of it. I’m glad they finally answered the Matt/Mary question definitively, that was my favorite part of the beginning. It’s all basically worth it for that karaoke scene though.
