Maybe we're going Lost with some flashfowards? Maybe it's not actually Nora? Also, where was Lily?? and it's a shame it seems we might not get any Regina King...and no more Megan after her wonderful villainous turn last year.
Lost season 3 finale flashforward definitely sprang to mind. Oh my god if that's what we're doing here I am over the moon that Lindelof did it again, haha. If that is the future then I guess this means Nora survives whatever is coming and she's...delivering birds. Her response to the nun's question about whether or not she knew a Kevin would seem to imply many possibilities here. They're not together in the future and perhaps Kevin is trying to reach out to her? Oh god I don't know but I'm so excited. Edit: Or maybe, again if that was a flashforward, Nora and Kevin are living in Australia hiding under fake names after the sudden popularity of the Book of Kevin? As for Lily, it seems like something bad happened there. Maybe she died or was taken away?
Also, can we talk about how amazing and unexpected that opening scene with the GR was? I did not see that coming. It's a bold move, Cotton.
Was old Nora doing the same thing with the carrier pigeons that the people in the beginning of the episode were doing to try and figure out the date of the rapture?
"No, Kevin. That's Jesus." Great premiere! Love that it looks like we're going to be spanning time. I'm crazy about shows that play with time and I know Lindelof does that stuff well.
Am I the only one who thought the aged-up Nora looked exactly like the woman from the opening sequence? Like, I was convinced it was her and the lightning storm made her immortal until I did about nine double-takes.
Are they setting up somehow that Kevin will disappear at some point, and they'll be awaiting his return -- similar to Christ? Because that ending implies the end is not near (on the 7th anniversary) and the pigeons are feeding back data, similar to what they were doing way back in the 1840's, which was all about guessing when Christ would come back.
My guess: Kevin departs (or disappears/goes into hiding/dies and everyone assumes he departs) and becomes a sort of holy figure, perhaps due to/in combination with the spread of the Book of Kevin. Nora wants to distance herself from that but can't stay away from all of that entirely, thus the bird business. God this show is so good, premiere has just had my mind racing around for the past hour. I thought that as well, definitely intentional.
And yes, the way they dealt with the Guilty Remnant is masterful. Few shows would have the balls to eliminate what was a major component of the series ten minutes into a season premiere.
Wow, another cold open to start the season. The John+Laurie thing caught me by surprise. I have so many questions after this episode and that ending. Also, beard gang haha.
For the first half of this episode I thought maybe the characters were finally happy in life but then Kevin tried to asphyxiate himself and it was like nope, everything's still super fucked up.
I'm not reading anyone's spoilers or theories or anything. Fuck!!!! What a first episode!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh That ending. So lost like. I'm so happy
I could totally see it ending with Kevin accidentally becoming the next Jesus after having a totally normally explainable death that only we see
